Lets talk GEC!

That was my only problem with the Maverick, the size of the clip blade in comparison to the overall size of the 62. I posted a pic of my 62 next to my 73 in OO yesterday and they're almost the same size. That clerk sure is pretty though. And, I thought I was through for a while.

Ahh, the return of the #13 finally. I've often wondered why it hadn't been used since the forum knife a couple years back. Was starting to think it was going to be the one and only knife produced in that pattern.

That 13 looks great. Sure glad it will be a while until it's ready...it's been about a knife a week the past few weeks. The 77, the 35s, the 15 crown lifter.

The Clerk looks very promising

But, considering the length of time they took to get new variations of the 13 launched, they should call it 'The Filibuster.'.:D

These are the Tidioute versions, the Northfields will look posher, maybe 'Majority Leader'

Nah, the President Pro Tempore....

At this rate we should start seeing the scout(and other #35 offerings) around 2020!:D

I'm real curious to see if they use the "office knife" acrylic covers for the clerk. That could be pretty cool.

I would like to see the blades on the Speaker reversed. Spear main and sheep foot secondary.

The frame does offer quite a lot of possibilities.

On the Clerk, you could reverse the blades too, Spear major, short Wharncliffe minor. There might be scope for including a long Drop-Point in one of the models.

Drop-point?? I can already hear the cries of execration. How dare I suggest such a horrible thing? It's not 'traditional' it was never done back in the days of yore, never been seen!! How dare I dilute tradition? My answer is simple, why ever not if it works and it can be useful? Tone Bose put a Wharncliffe in a Trapper instead of the usual Spey and created an improved and different pattern.

This could be a very exciting release.

I'm interested to see the cover material. When the "office knives" were run at QCC on a Senator/Pen frame, they were in Ivory. Can't do that no mo!!! Seems line the engraved "office knife" covers have been historically run by many cutlery co.'s and on different patterns but I've not seen one on the congress pattern frame.

That office knife is slick!

I'm curious why there is such a limited run of some of the SFO runs. For example I'm looking for a 14 Barlow but they can't be found. I would think the demand is there and it seems they sell out fast.

I believe that is the new norm at GEC. SFO's take away their ability to turn out regular production runs, so they are now limiting the amount of and size of SFO's. I think they are trying to make it a little easier for non collectors to be able to get their hands on regular runs without the need for an early reserve system through the various retailers.

As it should be.

Agreed as well, those who want a certain run of a knife should have a decent shot at getting one without having to sign up an register way in advance. I understand that they are a small operation and can only do so much, however.

Smaller runs of the special knives also keeps them special. I am not into collector (in fact the opposite, although with GEC this is really tough haha) so this is okay by me.

New schedule up!

In the case of the TC and N barlows, the dies for the bolsters were paid for by Charlie and Mike, respectively. They are not part of their regular production.

Presently, GEC is still making new patterns. But eventually, they'll run out of new patterns. And the details will be more important. As a long time collector, Charlie knows these details very well. GEC has learned a lot from the SFOs and some of what they've learned has trickled into regular production. A lot more could be incorporated. At present, it's not necessary for their business but I think it will be essential for their continued success in the future. For now at least, they march to their own drum... which sometimes works well... and sometimes looks like Elaine Benes dancing.
