Lets talk GEC!

Snagged the 74sfo! Jigged autumn gold with that Robeson style jigging sounds nice. Hopefully the blade ends up a lot like that lannys clip.

I was in the middle of composing a rather long winded post with details when I got the text about the early reserve. Corset shield, satin blade, Lanny's clip as inspiration (like Camillus mentioned). Should be a really cool knife.
 
Thanks John! I was away from my phone for a sec... nearly missed them. Got in at he edge of the jig bone and the ebony for sure. Glad they're the muskrat clip. Should be interesting.
 
Forgot about the shield, extra excited now. I was watching his video while laying with my son as he was falling asleep. He said "dad why do you always look at knife videos. You want to buy another one don't you?"

He has me figured out at 6!

Super, glad you got there in time. I got a jigged bone. If the bone winds up looking like Charlie's rope knife, it should be a beauty.
 
So Tony Bose graciously gave him a shop tour and interview during which he explained that he earns a living in part from the commission that Case pays to use his patterns. And then he makes a video showing how he will copy Tony's design at a lower price point. It shouldn't be difficult to understand why that's not cool. But it sounds like it will have a full flat grind unlike Tony's design.

I agree, love the jigging on Charlie's autumn gold rope knife. I'm a fan of the corset shield from the 85's too. Will be interesting to see how the blade shape turns out. Hopefully it's a pinchable blade. Not sure about the nail nick in the swedge...

Looks like he pulled the video down after the reservations opened. Can anyone summarize what we missed?

He showed the label. Showed the Case/Bose Lanny's clip as the basis for the pattern. He compared it directly with the 74. He showed some other GEC knives for size comparison (sort of unnecessary since he had a 74). And he showed a couple of knives as examples of the 2 cover options: Charlie's rope knife as an example of the bone and Charlies 35 harness jack as an example of ebony. He also showed the sketch for the standard GEC production run which will be slightly different --different swedge and covers.

I think both cover materials were very good choices. I'm glad he's using a different shield and grind than the Case/Bose Lanny's clip so that it's not a close reproduction.

Ouch that hurts ! I had my reservation in. Just the way it goes...

At least I get a new tc tomorrow to ease the pain.
