Lets talk GEC!

Ok to be honest I don't have alot to say but I just hate that nothing has been added to my favorite knife thread since Dec 10th lol. I got my invoice yesterday for the 2 TC Barlows I ordered.with a little luck it could be a barlow fill Christmas :) ether way there in the mail and im checking the tracking twice a day lol. :D

:D This is one of the main threads I like to check too.

This is a big month for me. I have a total of 5 Beer Scouts and 1 TC Barlow coming in. At least 3 or 4 of those Beer Scouts will be Christmas or birthday gifts for relatives. This must be what it feels like to be my wife. Everyday I can't wait to check the mail to see what has come for me.

I see photos of #73 Hunters progress listed in the What's Happening section of the GEC site. Didn't see a hunter in the production schedule? I wonder what that is?

,,,Mike in Canada

Yeah, good catch. They haven't been in the production schedule at all. I saw the red micarta and thought it might be related to the legendary KSF Steve, but there are green micarta scales as well. It'll be interesting to see what's going on...

I must admit that I have a thing for the 55/56/57 dogleg pattern .

I'm in this camp too & was just thinking recently that GEC ought to do another run of 56 doglegs. Go wild & give us both spear & clip blade mains, rattail bolsters, & some w' & some w'out end caps.

Could it be some sort of Christmas special or theme? The timing, along with the red and green micarta has to be more than a coincidence

The H73 is a beautiful knife.GEC often do unannounced runs of their fixed blades, especially the sportsman patterns.

Yeah although I just noticed that all the H73s are called hunters. The knives currently in production could be 731, 732, 733 or 734 pattern Hunters.

I'm smitten and would love to purchase or trade for a 92 Talon. Any chance there's been any rumors of another run of those coming around?

GEC hasn't announced anything other than what their production schedule shows and we know they're doing the #13 sometime next year. From what I've been able to pry out of dealers in the past, GEC is extremely tight lipped on what their plans are. It's an interesting marketing strategy in that it generates a lot of interest from folks like me who watch their website spellbound, waiting for the next release to show itself.

Last year DLT trading had a small run of 92's made but it's been a couple of years since we've seen a Eureka Jack. Keep your fingers crossed.

I'm surprised no one's noticed the acorn shields on the 73's. That means stainless!

The Red Linen should look very smart with the Acorn shield. Pity they don't offer another run of folding 73s in it as well...:D:cool:

Wow that's a nice bunch of knives. Whoever made your Christmas list is going to be very pleased Travman. Happy Halladay's

Sorry, Draggat we did notice the acorn shield and it doesnt mean stainless on a fixed blade.

Sorry, doesn't ALWAYS mean stainless on a fixed blade.

Oh well. I just saw the holes drilled in the bolsters and made the assumption there were folders in the lot. In my experience, acorn shielded folders are always stainless. Just chalk it up to one more good piece of misinformation! :D

Anyone else excited about the DLT Trading Mustang? I usually like smooth bone better than jigged and can't wait to see what the orange camel bone ends up looking like. :)

Can someone please educate me on the 3 fixed blade versions on the site. Thanks.

I'm curious about these myself, Alan. I've been looking for a stainless, thin stock knife to use as a steak knife, and those H732s are looking pretty sweet. Even if they are 1095, I still may have to pick one up.
