Lets talk GEC!

Oh, looks like they made today's pic :)

My first #42 came in yesterday, good looking and feeling knife. I can see why this would be popular.

With a GEC #72 for comparison.

Hey, for some reason tapatalk won't let me send you a message. Could you pm me where to find those stainless 42 and 72's? I'd really appreciate it

Lockback, green scales, clip blade, lanyard hole ..... OH MY!

How much longer till the #22 Magnum arrives?

Randy

Oh, not sure a PM would help with the Elk... I got the #42 from CollectorKnives who doesn't have them in stock anymore. AFAIK, demand was far greater than supply on these and I'm not aware of any dealers that still have them. The #72 is a 2011 model so it would only be available on the secondary markets.

Edit: If you're asking about the green linen #42s, well those should be released any day now, probably all the dealers. There's also Chestnut #42s out there with dealers.

I saw the great eastern etch and thought yours were the 440c models. I'm looking for them. Are the micarta gonna be in stainless art all?

Yep, both the elk #42 and #72 are 440C models, as are the Chestnut ones out there now and these OD Green Linen that are coming up.

Btw, all of GEC's 440C knives have the "Cyclops Steel Works" stamp. So far, it is the only reliable way to confirm if a GEC knife is 440C.

I'm such a sucker for micarta. The pattern is almost irrelevant. Btw, anyone heard of plans to do another run of the canvas micarta bullnose?

Oh awesome! I might try a micarta

Has anyone experienced any recent issues concerning unfinished knives? The last two knives I received both had mark side bolsters that were not polished?? Both were recent production knives and both happened to have blood red bone covers. I just found this too much of a coincidence to be the only one experiencing this?

Can anyone point me in the direction to find out what options are coming out for the present run of TC barlows? Are they all spear points? Handle Materials? Thanks much in advance...

I'm considering ordering a GEC. Thinking about #42 and 65 right now. Any thoughts on these, guys?

Chestnut and blood red jigged bone. Gabon ebony and walnut. I think all will have a spear primary. The walnut is only being made with single blade

If they do another run of these, I hope that this time, they'll be finshed to the same level that the linen ones were (or pass the savings realized in omitting those finishing steps on to the customer).

I never warmed up to the Pemberton, the proportions just didn't look right. A 3 5/8" would be sweet and I would even like one in the 4 1/4" size.

However, I'm still waiting for a 5 1/4" coke bottle hunter with a sabre clip. Now that would be full size. :D
Same here. THAT would be irresistable!

I have 3 of the 42's that I carry, just because I like the pattern so well. I like carrying a full size knife and don't find the 42 too big or heavy. Have a stag, smooth ivory bone and just got a gorgeous blood red jigged bone. I prefer the blade finish on the Tidioutes as opposed to the polished Northfield's.

Thanks man. Do you carry it in jeans or khakis?

The OD Green CANVAS Micarta 71's were a SFO for Collectorknives.net. The Micarta Handles were purposely left rough for better grip while working with the knife. GEC finished these to the order specs.
