Lets talk GEC!

I do kind of like the look, except I don't see one that is consistent on both sides. I have too many on my "must have next" list anyway

Oh yes the ever so familiar never ending must have list of mine keeps growing larger then my wallet lol.
EDIT: Almost just bought another Camel bone from the second run because I liked them so much but it wasn't on my to get list [emoji846]

I briefly thought of finding the least-dyed 74 so that I could dye it myself, but my better senses kicked in and I left the site.

I'm not crazy about the 38s. The pattern itself seems nice enough, but I know I would never consistently carry a knife that large.

Hoping the H73s hit next week. I'd really like to get one in-hand.

Seems like production has moved on to the mudbugs, on the GEC site the 74 is now "just finished" with no sign of the jigged bone northfields.

I wonder if they pulled them due to the issue with the ApostleP SFO using the wrong bone?

One thing I've personally become a little annoyed with is the focus on single blade knives, with only a healthy supplement of 2-blades like the 15s, 14s, etc. Obviously thats what sells and/or is making them money so I can't actually fault them. Surely they are much easier to produce in quantities and high quality as well. But I do miss the whittler and congress types.

I could be wrong (easily), but it seems like the only 3+ blade config I can remember coming out in all of 2016 was those monster 98s.

Going back to 2015 there were probably some others, but the only one I recall is the Grinling 38 whittlers. Otherwise just a bunch of 1 and 2 blade-ers.

Just me hoping for some stockman patterns, etc. in 2017 ......

On the plus side, I was "compelled" to buy far fewer GECs this year (I think).

I was wondering the same thing tstaut. Maybe throw a Northfield etch on the original run of autumn gold horsecut jigged, and do another run for Rob with the rope knife jigging?

All speculation of course.

That ship has sailed. The Heartland clips are already on their way to the dealers.

Got an email from CK, I guess all the bone Heartlands have been claimed--I guess signing up for it in under 5-seconds just wasn't fast enough. Oh well, I've been eyeing a Mnandi. Plus I already have a reserve on a Yellow Rose Mustang, which looks like it'll be available soon.

Did not get one of the Heartlands , which is just as well anyhow . It was not Autumn Gold and did not have the promised jigging . They may have said it was Autumn Gold , but it was not the same as the two other patterns that I have in Autumn Gold .
I did order a Yellow Rose after missing the Heartland .

Finally!!! I've been waiting for my canvas micarta Mudbug since mid-September. I was starting to lose my patience. I have now idea how people wait years for a custom knife.

Yes! Just saw it up on the GEC website! I've got three coming my way to give my Maroon mudbug company. Really like this pattern!:D

Harry: I just looked at the written description of the Heartland 74 again. It does say Autumn Gold Jigged bone. Of course it doesn't say what pattern of jigging. I bought a DLT which is Autumn Leaf jigged. The Heartlands that I saw looked like the same jigging as mine. And the Orange Camel bone is the same orange dye as the Autumn Leaf orange. This looks like a lot of miscommunication.

Colors turn out different almost every time. Jigging turns out different. I appreciate GECs for the variety. I hope they never get to a place where everything is consistent and the same as the next one. It is part of what makes GEC great!! IMO

ApostleP was the one who said that the jigging was going to be the same as the Rope Knife . I only have 1 GEC with jigged bone because I do not care for all of the jigging that I have seen of theirs except for what was on the Rope Knife and the Autumn Leaf Jigged Bone on the 83's. It is just a matter of taste . Would have liked to have had a 1 of 50 knife though. That being said , the Yellow Rose was actually what I had reserved first and then canceled and one of them in Any Pattern was on my short list to have in my collection . Very happy to get one ordered too.
And I too appreciate variety but when I want a color or jigging too match , then that is what I want.

I also noticed that a jigged bone northfield stallion didn't get made. Guess I have to decide between green jigged tidoiote which has the slabs I want or the yellow rose northfield which has the swedge I want. *pout*

Have they confirmed that they didn't or won't do any Northfield jigged bone stallions? I know there are no pictures of it, and they're working on the 71s. It's listed as one of the knives in the "just finished" section, though. Mike? Barry?

No argument with any of that Harry. Seemed like a cluster to me around this release. Not that I have knowledge of prior releases,

Thinking about using my DKT points on the The camel bone 74 . This will be my first GEC that I buy new . I'm new to GEC so my question is are these like Spyderco sprint . Is this knife worth getting or is there other ones out ther . Single blade I have a Used double blade and I'm not a fan of it . Thanks
