Lets talk GEC!

Thanks so much! What are your impressions of them compared to each other?

Three of my favorites. I've said it elsewhere, that if I could only have one pocket knife it would be the Electrician. The short, stout sheepfoot blade is just so useful, along with the other tools.

The Eureka I bought specifically to regrind the spear into a clip (it turned out great), and paired with the excellent coping blade it makes a great EDC. I try always to have both a curved belly and a straight-edged blade on me for utility.

The rust red bone on my Radio is some of the prettiest bone I've ever seen, but lacking a straight-edged blade like a coping or sheepfoot, I don't carry it as often. But when the caplifter might come into use, it gets the nod. All three are a great pocket size, from 3.5 to 3.7 inches.

My dad gave me a Ben Hogan spear in black gold acrylic for my birthday this past weekend. Wow, even cooler than I had thought when looking at it on the internet (and I looked at it a heck of a lot)! It's pretty special since we are both into history.

Unfortunately, the edge was hitting the spring. I tried to sharpen it enough to fix it but ended up sending it in to gec. They are so easy to work with I'm sure it'll be fixed and ready to be carried soon.

I can't wait.

Just noticed some more pics of the .22 Magnum up on the GEC site. Curious if there will be a single blade version.

They will be two blade only this run, I believe.

Darn.

On that note, just noticed more pics of the 22 Magnum progress. Really liking how the smooth white bone is coming along. Still that jigged dark(chestnut?) bone is probably my favorite. Looks like there will be a Dead Skunk acrylic, Ebony, and Stag offered too.

Also looks like both the nail nicks will be on the same side.

Too bad that slim northwoods 53 wasn't a 54 so we could have half stops. Just one man's opinion. Might get one in burgundy micarta anyway.

I'd love to see some single blade #72 with the big bolster like on the TC #15 but with UN-X-LD logo (maybe X-LD if putting the whole thing on there is too much). Or maybe just "GEC" down the big bolster.

I would love to see some Ironwood scales at some point. Love the stuff on fixed blades, and think it would look great on a traditional as well. Just wonder why we do not see this as a scale choice sometimes?

A whole bunch of #73s (3) were made with DI in 2007. Here is mine with a #12 and a #61 I had rehandled in DI.

2Dead, thank you for sharing those. Its a material I would like to see used again.

I see from the Dealers' sites that there are plans for

ANOTHER 66 JACK run and the one that interests me more, a 66 single spring with Muskrat Clip/Pen

Even more interesting is the mooted run of 92 EUREKAS as single blade with Spear or WHARNCLIFFE as blade choice! The Lava Acrylic has my name on it I feel...

Just purchased a new #22 Magnum in the Buckthorn bone. One of the dealers (not sure if he is a member anymore) has the new tidioutes out in shop on his site already.

This is a short knife, but not really a small knife (like the 09 esquire), and I'm loving the size and quality of this new GEC knife. Very excited about getting this one, and was wondering what your thoughts were on this 2 5/8" beauty?
