Lets talk GEC!

If you actually count knives, they have cut back significantly. They don't do many standalone SFO's at all any more. What you consider SFO's are just "Add-On" runs that they let dealers put in with a standard production in order to make set-up worthwhile. Typically limited to 50 or, every once in a while, a 100 knives.

Interesting, to know. Thanks Mike.

does that have any implications on a possible run of 77 barlows this year? one of the gec guys told me no one had requested a run so it wasn't yet on the schedule to return.

The gec guy is sucking up too much bone dust... I have had several standing SFO requests for years; with the #77 being a constant. I don't call and hound them every day like Charlie does :D ; but they know I want a #77 or #85 any time I can get them.

I can't wait to have the opportunity to finally get a #85 Bullet end & #77 Barlow If all go's well for me. I've been trying to hunt down a 85 for almost 2 years now.

Yes, this! They should do a massive run of each, with many different and new handle materials. I have several suggestions to offer once they commit (like anyone would listen to me). An epic manufacturing effort. The vibe would be incredible, and a guaranteed success!

Anyone receive their new 48 Bloodwood Weasel yet? While waiting for mine to ship, some owner pics would be good to gawk at in the meantime. :D

Mine arrived earlier today. Just clean... loving the satin, no etch blade... and that bloodwood has a beautiful sheen to it.

Haha! Ed, you have succumbed to my Master Plan! :D:eek:

Looking good, Rob!

Are they going to call the two-blade version the "Improved Weasel"? :)

Barrett, I kinda like that idea... but I think Improved Trapper fits better. Honestly, does anyone know how/why they came up with the name Weasel? I wonder if at GEC HQ, when they are picking a new name for a production pattern run, they all sit around and brainstorm crazy names, post them all on a wall... and then throw darts blindfolded at them until they hit one.

thanks for the clarification, mike! maybe someone else should call and hound them...haha.

GEC often comes up with a related but different name for their knives based on patterns. The 48 is a trapper, and trappers trapped weasels, so I think it's an appropriate name. Plus it's long and slender.

Oh, I can definitely see it now... thanks. Sorry, my mind is a bit clouded. When I hear the name Weasel, I have a Pavlovian response and picture my wife's ex-husband. :D
