Lets talk GEC!

Must be the year of the nail nicks. Wish they had some long pulls for the spear 92, and I'll pass on the Wharncliffe.

Long Pulls are only used on the Northfield Brand knives. I don't believe we've seen any of these yet.

You won't need the nail nick with the wharncliffe. You can easily pinch it open. The handles are really quite ergonomic for your hand....very comfortable.

How does the Wharnie compare to the Spear blade? Does the Wharncliff have a weak tip and risk breaking easily? I like both types of blades on this knife and but don't own either one yet.

I'm really liking the look of those single blade #92's! I think there will be one in my near future, I just need to choose between the OD green linen micarta, or the ebony wood. I'm leaning towards the ebony though, but I'd like to see some of the finished production pictures before finally making the call.

It would have been nice if we saw the micarta in other color options, not that I don't enjoy OD green, I'd just prefer other colors to it.

Well I have a tidioute #15 spear/pen boys knife with a long pull. I assume that run was an exception tho

I like the wharnie on the 92, and am tempted by it since I missed out on the vipers. But every time I contemplate a wharncliffe, I start to wonder what in the world I would need that blade shape for.

I agree that a spear would look better with a long pull. I'm biased, though. I've got a thing for long pulls.

The #15 Scout had a long pull as well, as did an earlier run of the #15 with a single blade clip.

I have a tidioute #72 wharnie by gec, I would describe the tip as very fine. I haven't found it to be weak, although I only use it to cut things, so a very fine tip is great for me. I had the very fat spear point #72 also. The tip appeared more substantial but in use I found the profile to be terrible for me. The tip is just too broad for me to do... stuff... like I couldn't get the tip into a knot for example.

I have a northwoods fremont jack in the mail. Its a sleeveboard deal by gec and is a thicker sabre grind. Seems to have a fatter tip than the average wharnie. (ksf had several when I ordered last weekend, now they only have two listed.)

I'm watching the Talon progress like the proverbial hawk, ha ha!:D

Should be something to suit most tastes here, nail nick Spear and Wharncliffe and longpull in these blades. I see something on the GEC site that LOOKS like jigged bone but it could be jigged wood? Hope not as I'm not a fan of that material really. Like I wrote earlier, the acrylic does not move me on this run- if it were Lava Lamp, Dead Skunk, Tortoise I'd be beside myself  so that's why I hope the jigged stuff is bone, otherwise pass....:(

Tidioute is Goldenrod Jigged Bone and the Northfield will be Moss Green Jigged Bone on the 92.

Guys… I am looking for a Northwoods Fremont Jack, not in burnt stag, anybody know where I can get one in a different color? PM me please.

…..
Edit…
I am leaving my original comment up as it is used as an example. I should have commented on the knife and not tried to seek one out here in this thread…
Thanks for the clarification. Eager… but learning where eagerness is best expressed.

By the way, it is a very unique blade that would have tons of application in my daily life.

I think this sort of post goes a bit against the rules of this forum...try posting in the "wanted to buy" section, and keep an eye open on the traditional sales forum. There are quite a bit of those knives around. :)
As for the thread itself, I'll wait till more news come out about the upcoming run of #66 jacks...
