Lets talk GEC!

Well… I don't know if it counts, but I just received maybe the last Northwoods Fremont Jack on the internet… :-) I have been looking one for awhile in camel bone or something other than stag… But now that its here… I am just glad I have one. I know GEC makes these, so I hope this counts for this page. If not… remove. Thanks.

Congratulations! It's a great knife. I have one in calico bone. More to come according to Derrick in these posts from late March:

We just ordered another 300. They will be a few months out.

Yea… I searched everywhere for a calico bone… but no luck. I happily settled for the stag. Great blade. Thanks.

Received mine today. Love the perfectly cut jigging, the translucent golden color and the easy opening. Far and away my favorite of a dozen or so GEC's so far. Like it so much I ordered a 2nd for gifting or backup using some KSF "addict points"
.
What a beauty! Have one in Wharncliffe headed this way. Wish I could afford to lay in a few for gifts.

Softens the sting a bit that I came to the GEC party too late to score a #47 in Burnt Sienna.

So anyone have a #92 talon yet? How do you like it? I have a spear and wharncliffe OD green coming in tomorrow so I'll post pics when they land - I couldn't make up my mind which one to get!!

I've got a wharncliffe in ebony. I really like it. It's my only single blade GEC that isn't clad in thick plastic (F&F tools), so I'm liking the slim profile and lighter weight.

Anyone else looking forward to the current run of 66's? Looks like the jack configuration is up first. That is a great knife in its own right. I have a couple that I should carry. Also a calf roper and one of Charlie's awesome harness jacks. Truly great knives that I'm surprised we don't see more of on the forum.

What really has me excited is the slim version. This will be a single spring 66 frame with a clip and pen at opposite ends. So that means a medium sized pen knife on a serpentine(?) frame. Sign. Me. Up. I see a modestly larger, slightly bent ebony conductorish knife in my future.

Looking at the cover materials I see two SFO's being offered in both the jack and slim. One, the mammoth ivory is offered by none other than KSF. The second is smooth yellow bone. I asked around and no one seemed to know who is doing the yellow bone.
So anyone wanna fess up? ;)

I'd like to get a mammoth SFO. Will some one pm me and let know who's order they are?
Peter

The slim should be a cool knife! Should be like the white owl, which I love, just slightly bent. :) I just wish I could get one of the smooth yellow bone version!!

Yep, really looking forward to this run of 66 jacks. I'm thinking about a purple sage tidioute and garnet northfield.

I like the Pen config. Slim indeed. Tidioute acrylic (depending on what they offer) or that jigged Sage bone be my choice. Impatient!

I had my eye on this for a long time and squirreled enough gold away to finally get it.
Bonus Feature-it turned up the same day as the quest knives(more of those later).

What is calico and camel bone?
Camel bone is bone that comes from camels. It has a different appearance than regular cow shin bone and I believe it is denser? Calico bone is the name of a dye job that GEC has done on smooth bone. Named after the cat I believe. Ex:
