Lets talk GEC!

They are rerunning the #99 after the 14's.
Well if this is true, that's good news and bad news. The good news is I'd be really into a run of 99s as opposed to some 72s or 83s. The bad news, I've already reserved 3 of the 14s and plan snatching one or two of the DLT SFOs, and was hoping whatever was next up was something I wouldn't be interested in... I'm gonna have to sell a kidney or something it looks like. Any takers?

In 440C, no less!

I'm snagging a chestnut one for my kiddo. She's about ready for a third knife and doesn't have a lockback yet.

lol, sell something that looks like a kidney and try to get one of the 99's in elk!

I jumped in on the elk and bone as well. Hoping for something like the smooth autumn gold bone from the past!

Very cool on the 99's. I have a few stainless GECs and have really been enjoying them. I went for an elk and a chestnut. I'm not sure which will be my first elk knife, the 99 or the 2018 BF. Prolly BF.

I'd be good with a Tidioute in some sort sawcut blue or green bone, and a Northfield with polished blade and either lava, tigerlily, or hummingbird acrylic covers.

I would guess more of those are genuinely being carried and used vs just carried as pocket jewelry. Not bashing people here or anyone who carries a knife and doesn't use it hard, just saying that BladeForums is by no means the majority of sales for GEC.
That makes sense to me. Mind you that's not saying alot lol.☺

Good Lord, I was on CK's preorder page @ 3:55 and there was nary a sign of these. By 4:40 they've already closed the reserve. That sucks. Anywhere else taking preorders?

Got standby, another great run. GEC must be listening to the customers. Stainless GEC's on the way.

Dang, completely missed the boat on these 99s, I've been hoping they would run this pattern again. That's what I get for being super busy.

I would have been particularly interested in the Elk.

Ah well, let us see what the other dealers come up with.

I've been off the knife front for a few months but jumped on the TBD bone. 440C? Right on! Fingers crossed on the lock play.
I was wondering about lock play as well. However in my experience GEC has only gotten better at making knives over the years. The transitions from bone to bolsters is one I've noticed got alot better. So I'm thinking they waited tell they had improved on the issues they had in the past before attempting another run of lockback's. Time will tell I guess. :D

As I understand it, it is a normal run. So basically all active GEC dealers will get them. Not at all trying to push people away from CK, I've bought knives from Mike and had good service, but often in discussions it seems like people think his early reserve system is the only option to get these sought after runs.

I met the dealer through whom I buy most of my knives at the Rendezvous this year and as I suspected he seems like a really genuine and good guy. I am not sure if he's a paid dealer for this site, I'll have to check before posting any specifics. He doesn't use an online system, and I don't think he gets the early word on these like the bigger dealers (he actually said he often learns about runs by customers emailing him), but I am typically able to contact him and let him know which upcoming knives I'd like to get.

All I'm saying is that I guarantee you can still get an elk stainless #99.

edit: My guarantee was only good yesterday and not in perpetuity!!! Haha hope no one took it the wrong way.
