Lets talk GEC!

I like the orange Delrin handles, but would also like to see some Old Timey Yellow.

That's a nice one!

I generally have preferred Micarta over delrin but maybe I'll try it out on this run.

They put 123 for the ironwood 77’s but there’s only 122.

I wondered about the rendezvous white bone ancients. Also, I thought that they said there were only 6 of either the single blade or two blade glitter gold 78s at the Rendezvous (and 8 of whichever was the other setup).

I had to send in my #77 Barlow from thetmost recent run in for some warranty work. Nasty blade side to side play on the big clip point. Definitely worth getting looked at. This is my second time sending in a knife for warranty work and always have grade A experiences. Can't wait to get my #77 back and in my pocket.

I sent this one in for a repair on side to side bladeplay. If I remember correctly they only charged for the shipping. Great experience..:thumbsup:

I'm going through the 2018 production totals and adding to my database right now. Off-hand, the only glaring errors that I see is they forgot to add the Circle A #14 SFO in Smooth Yellow Bone, the TKC #14 SFO in Ironwood and the JSR #14 SFO in Cobblestone. And they forgot to include the totals for a few of the Northwoods. Also looks like they didn't include the Rendezvous knife?

They did 'em with a punch, too.

Man, those are both fine knives but the one on the left sure gets my heart pumping. I was blissfully unaware of this rendition of the 15... Going to have to add it to the list.

I posted this in the database thread but thought it would be good to include in this one too.

Here's another one I find interesting.

Which led to this plot to try and show some correlations and trends...paints an interesting picture. What I see is the consistent rise in totals, materials and patterns when the company started out...then things peaked in 2011-2012 when they were making more knives than ever, at that point, and the most patterns and materials available that they would ever offer again. Moving forward, I think they realized they couldn't proceed at that rate and still have the quality they were looking for so they started offering fewer patterns and fewer materials but higher quantities. And that trend continued until now where it looks like they found their "sweet spot" of how many patterns to offer each year (and maybe how many they produce each year too) but they are still reducing the number of materials offerred at a decent rate.

I had one new GEC a while back (don’t remember which pattern) that had a very similar scratch on the blade (same side, too, I think). If that was my knife and it was going to be a user, I wouldn’t really worry much about it, but if it bothers you too much, I’m sure you could contact the dealer and they’ll make it right.

Yup gonna be a user 100%. Just shocked at the length and depth of the scratch out of the tube. There are 2 others that run the length of the blade not shown in that photo. Would be a sad day if this happened on anything but a sodbuster

Why is it the knives I suddenly develop an interest in have all vanished from the horizon?:D

Now a 56 single Spear in Nat Micarta is begging to be part of my user regime ;) No chance of regime change here.....

There's a long horizontal scratch in both the 14 ebony clip single blade and the 85 beaver i received, not quite as deep but it's there.

A deep scratch, particularly horizontal, and one that won't polish off on a brand-new knife, is not what I would be happy with. Why? Shews sloppy inspection before it's put in the tube, not convincing.
