Lets talk GEC!

Did anyone notice any mistakes in the 2018 Production Totals? I think they missed the 25 Smooth White bone Ancient TC Barlows that Charlie Campagna had at the Rendezvous.
They are the ones marked "soup bone", Trav!! Note two different years!!

Thanks for the clarification Charlie. I had assumed the soup bone was another set of TC’s like the ones at the Oregon Knife Collectors show.

I did notice the two different years on those marked as “soup bone”. Did you know these were coming before the Rendezvous or did Bill surprise you?

Surprised that they made so many stag 82s, but I guess not so surprised to find out being that they're still in stock lots of places.

There is a lot of great stag there, and nice to see them still available. I normally would have bought several of these, but I stopped buying stag when they quit using shields on them. Just don't like the look without.

So. They churned these #21s out pretty quietly, without much fanfare. Anyone excited for them?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm excited for 'em! I only wish there was a bit more variety in the cover materials. The #71's usually get something more interesting than just orange Delrin and black and OD Micarta. Maybe just some Natural Canvas Micarta, or the Muslin Micarta they've been using lately. And what about Nifebrite?!

I got lucky and scored a Nifebrite from the last run. I feel I only really need 1 of this pattern.

That there were no Nifebrite 14s was practically a crime, lol.

Stoked that the '18 production totals are up, but I think that some of those numbers are getting pretty big...

I'm afraid they might be getting away from Nifebrite, which is a shame, 'cause I happen to really like it. I don't see anything on the 2018 production totals that was done in Nifebrite, and usually you can count on it being included in a Farm & Field run. :(

I agree. I don't like either of the 3 options at all, honestly. I just chose the OD because I wanted to try the pattern out.. I do really love nifebrite. Maybe the next run of #15s will have that as an option? A boy can hope anyways.

I like nifebrite (and the rarely seen anymore, Sunbrite) quite a bit, but am I the only one who thinks it could glow longer?

I mean, it glows really bright at first, but dims fairly rapidly. I hope they develop a way to give the luminescence a bit more longevity.

Anybody know what Shields will be used on the upcoming 97 run? I thought I saw the 97's on the production schedule. I checked today to see what shields were used and I don't see them on the schedule. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly...?

Notice the note in the upper left of the picture. I think the Rose Shield will be new and will debut with the 97’s.

Hmmmm...interesting. I'm wondering if they meant tulip, but wrote down rose. Or, perhaps you are right and, there's a completely new flower shield! Should be fun to see what develops.

I'm excited! The 21s are a pleasant surprise, just paid for my black linen.
It's a shame they didn't get creative with the handle materials but on the other hand I'm just glad they made more as I carry one every day.

It's great that we can all like knives but have such varying tastes! I much prefer the stag without the shield. I did like the arrow shield on the BladeForums 77, but other than that (and even on some of them depending on the stag thickness) prefer stag to be without shield.

I'm on the fence. I like them for their robustness, but they're a bit big and thick for carry (while I think the 71 could be a tad longer). I might get one just to do a comparison video on my YouTube channel.

I recently did a similar comparison video on the possum Skinner:

I really liked the sunbrite. Closest thing to GEC yellow synthetic. Hope they do more.
