Lets talk GEC!

I like nifebrite (and the rarely seen anymore, Sunbrite) quite a bit, but am I the only one who thinks it could glow longer?

I mean, it glows really bright at first, but dims fairly rapidly. I hope they develop a way to give the luminescence a bit more longevity.
Maybe if they changed the formula to a more modern luminous compound it wouldn't be traditional enough for them? Just guessing. I love my Nifebrite 14, it's perhaps my most carried knife, but it doesn't glow for that long compared to the indices on a modern watch for example.

I had to send in my #77 Barlow from thetmost recent run in for some warranty work. Nasty blade side to side play on the big clip point. Definitely worth getting looked at. This is my second time sending in a knife for warranty work and always have grade A experiences. Can't wait to get my #77 back and in my pocket.

I'm excited! The 21s are a pleasant surprise, just paid for my black linen.
It's a shame they didn't get creative with the handle materials but on the other hand I'm just glad they made more as I carry one every day.

I’ve got a black linen Micarta on the way, and I’ll be getting an OD linen Micarta as well. I’ve already expressed my disappointment in the variety of cover materials, but I’m still looking forward to the knives (my first Bull Busters), and I’m thinking one of ‘em (probably the black one) might be a good candidate for some @glennbad treatment!

I really liked the sunbrite. Closest thing to GEC yellow synthetic. Hope they do more.

I love Nifebrite, but I don’t really care about how long it glows in the dark. ;) I just like the way it looks. :D (The same cannot be said for the Sunbrite Acrylic, which to me is an ugly shade of yellow ).

I’ve dropped my knifebrite in tall grass after dark. Pulled out my flashlight, quick pass over the area and turned it off. Knifebrite to the recscue! It was invisible under the flashlight but shone brightly in the grass. Only needed to be bright for a few seconds so I’m not concerned much with how long it stays bright.

Glow in the dark is for sure cool but I do like the Sunbrite a bit more aesthetically.

It really just looks to me like something from a kitchen drawer in an old farmhouse. It just has something.

How neat would it be if they did a run of bareheaded single clip and/or clip+spey #48s in sunbrite acrylic in Tidioute or F&F trim? Would be a nice nod to the old yellow Camillus and Case slimline trappers.

Haha. I kind of agree, the redeeming factor for the orange is that it is a hunting color. But my enduring wish is that GEC would sawcut it, like the knives I grew up with as a kid. I just don’t enjoy the look and feel of smooth delrin and I love the look and feel of sawcut delrin.

You used it exactly as it's meant to be used! The material had released all its stored energy, the electrons having fallen back to their lower energy states, releasing photons as they went. So you recharged the electrons with more photons, filling the material with energy to be released back at you at a lower level, but for a longer time.

I write in defense of my #77 Yankee Jack with the Sunbrite Acrylic. It is the only knife I use as a substitute for a Celluloid in my traditional collection. With the clip blade it is in my opinion, spectacular. My disfavor in categories of handle colors include blue, grey, sick green, and especially nitebright.
It has been proven that a salesperson dressed in green genders distrust. Maybe that is why nitebright is notable.

Orange is getting a bit tiresome for me but it is still popular. I too would like to see Yellow Delrin or a Yellow Composite used on both the Bull Nose and Bull Buster knives. I don't think it has been used yet?
