Lets talk GEC!

Nice haul, Sharps. Are you pleased with them? The 89s are a really neat pattern. I recall they sat around a good while at most dealers, but now they're unobtanium.. I can actually say that about several of GECs older patterns. Kind of/sorta blows my mind that they've grown so much that they're now producing pattern runs of 5000 or more knives.

waverave waverave are you able to tell me how many clip point and spear point crown lifters and radio knives were made by GEC preferably in nifebrite or sunbrite but the whole breakdown of covers would be cool if you’re able, so probably 1512- -cl, 1512- - rad, 1522- -cl, 1522- -rad maybe with some ec’s thrown in there too for the ones with end caps. I think they were only made between ‘13 and ’15 but I’m not positive. I’m trying to figure how much of a wild goose chase it’s going to be to get one. Thank you

On GEC website they have a link to download all production totals by year and cover. Always a few mistakes and such but pretty darn accurate :)

and you might even find one that’s not listed like my 852213EO African Blackwood, I just assume the count is similar to the other 2 blades that were made that year but it would be nice to know, oh well

Ok I'll go ahead and say it. I'm starting to miss the larger quantities of smaller runs.
It's doing wonders for my wallet.... haven't been interested in any of the knives in production or on the schedule. Just waiting for the Forum knife I guess!

May have to snag a regular #86...clip and coping blades together is one of my weaknesses.

Actually, clip and coping is my weakness too.

That's a great way to say it. :)

For me, the larger runs don't really change my desire to like or want the knife....

....it changes my *sense of urgency* to buy (and/or reserve) the knife.

So yeah, the staple, rubber band(s) and dust are quite comfortable on my wallet for now. :p:D:p

I just don't like the knives in production or in the future production list. The coke bottles are to big. The toothpick isn't for me. The 29s are gonna be on 3 springs. The 86s are gonna be in my sweet spot for size and blade shapes.

Yep, same here :) and for the same reasons you mentioned.

I'm glad the BF knife is a #86 and I'll surely get a couple of regular #86'ers to use.

I did have a moment of weakness on the #12 toothpick...only because it's green bone. :D

Otherwise there's not much for me (so far) on the production schedule.

Good thing too, because Mrs. Oro is currently in training for her annual *Easter Shoe Bonanza* sale!:p

Don't get me wrong I'm gonna love seeing the pictures of these other knives pop up. The #29 may be something I pick up later. It is gonna be a bigger knife which I like just those 3 spring....

I am holding out hope for a whittler #29

Between patterns I dont love and deciding to purchase a mill to start making my own creations, I have been off the buying knives kick. My wallet still gets no rest, tooling and parts are just crazy :D

Forgot to mention...

I have one of the #97's locked in, but it's gift for my brother in law.

At least I'll have a few short minutes to look at it before my wife gift wraps and puts it back in the mail.

So there's a possible maybe on the #97...I may like it once it's in hand regardless of the size? Who knows? ;)

I just sent an email regarding a starter set of Helvie carving knives, there's a back log but I'm still excited about it!

Also, I would love to see a run of #92 Eureka Jacks  in the near future...one can always hope! :D

My Helvies came in under their posted time line and it was during the Christmas shopping season.

I wish they would make a version of this knife, the 09 pattern, but just a tick bigger. Like a version on the NW Bear Lake frame (39 pattern or whatever). I'm not into "bigger" slipjoints like the new 97. I'm wondering how pocketable the 86 pattern is going to be at 3.9-ish inches. The 77 is about as big as I go for regular carry.
