Lets talk GEC!

Any clue what the Hess Bird & Trout fixed blade will be like?
A little googling will bring up Hess Knives. One of our dealers has a few Bird and Trout knives. Not sure if they're exactly like the new GECs but shouldn't be too far off. I think GEC is making the blades but Hess Knives puts the rest of the knife together.

Trand,

Thanks for the info....I meant to say 10 as I am looking at the list right here..duh...I love the color of these.
NP, figured it was a brain fart :)

Does anybody know if GEC will make more than "just" the Bladeforums knife and Northfield barlow with the #77 frame? We can all guess the answer, but I'm wondering if you've seen anything suggesting more variation with this first run.

What is UN-X-LD? I see it on Northfields, but I've never heard what it means.

Sogfish ~ I think I remember Mike writing that there may be a single blade variation on a future sfo run but don't know if there will be variations in the blade style. Hope so though.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would just post a request here. I have been looking at the 72 and really like the northfield line because of details added and long pull. Did GEC ever do a Northfield in African blackwood or Ebony with the spear or the clip? All I see on their site is the wharncliffe.

Charlie announced in the giveaway thread that he will also be doing a #77 SFO at the same time.

The other knife, right after the BF 2014 (October maybe?), and on the same pattern, will be a two blade jack with Washington Bolsters, and I will have a thread up soon with more details!

I hope they don't forget to add the lockbacks to the rest of them...

Rolf, they had the picture wrong and must have fixed before you came in the thread. They originally had the words, 21LB Bullbuster with the picture of the non lockback bullbuster. Someone must have been tired last night when it was posted and caught it this morning after their coffee:D

I'm curious about this. Is this exclusively Smith & Sons? At least the #21 LB version anyway. Whomever is selling it is it O-1? 1095, 440C? What is going on and where? Thanks.

I understand that this version is 1095 as opposed to the 71 which was O1 steel.

This is embarrassing... They changed the picture but kept the filename that I hotlinked to...

Ah ha! I still had a page open on my phone. When I try to save the picture, it delivers the new one, but a screenshot vindicates me!

This is a good candidate for the "Let's Talk GEC" thread.

Yeah I noticed that yesterday and was wondering how long it would take for them to correct it. Since I haven't cleared my cookies and they used the same filename I am still seeing the same photo without the back lock.

I ordered a natural canvas version of the drop point hunter. 3.75" handle and 3" blade, roughly the same dimensions as the #73. Kinda excited for a nice small fixed blade, and not bad for 50 bucks shipped with a sheath. I'm not enough of a small game hunter to order the 2-knife pack but it's great that it's an option.

I like the look of the stainless steel White Bone sheath knives. However, I have a very early model in Horsecut Jigged Bone but the finish is not what it should be- gaps between handle and tang. Hope the latest are an improvement.
