Lets talk GEC!

Tomorrow's carry as the Nature boy has decided.

Change of direction...been reading various threads on stainless, jigging, and rope knives elsewhere on BF....I'm also a huge fan of the Beer Scout (RIP) and Rope/Navy Knife as well as 15s in general. With the death of the Beer Scout, I want to see a bone handled stainless steel 15 Navy knife, with the jigging used on Mr. CC's Rope Knife WITH a stainless crown lifter to boot. A worthy replacement for the Beer Scout....the Beer Sailor or perhaps Pirate Scout....or Beer Pirate.

Excited to see the other cover options!!

The club said in the newsletter it would be "autumn/goldenrod" dyed, but I spoke with Bill last Thursday and he said it would be Antique Autumn. It will have a darker dye in the center and will be polished down to a lighter yellowish color near the bolster. The "natural" refers to the fact that it is not jigged and has the natural topography of the bone, so to speak. I'm picturing something like primitive bone but less primitive.

Also, please share the AlleghenyMountainKnifeClub instagram with your knife enthusiast friends. The club officers didn't seem to think an instagram was that important, and it might not be, but I think it can really help get the word out.

It would be awesome if they brought back shields on stag for these big boys. I mean, it would be nice to have them back on all stag knives but these big ones in particular.

I lobbied for the bear shield on a stag handle for the AMKCA club knife, to no avail. I don't think Bill will bring back shields on normal run stag.

The knife you are describing is close to a Camillus 33 Navy knife. They are a great little knife and very very similar to a #15. My favourite is the one on the right with a modded secondary, similar to a GEC farmboy.

Anyone know, was the northwoods ocoee jack the first time GEC did blue sawcut bone handles?
Yes...it is the first time they have used that material. Here is a list of all sawcuts they have used in the past.
