I'll second LastRodeo's notion. I know the Stag model is a Dave Shirley Northwoods and I think the other one is too.
Are you satisfied with the quality of both knives?
Stop watching YouTube and you'll stop being disappointed...youtube review on the new blue one wasn’t very flattering regards QC.
Dont know which ones, but they were free with another knife purchase, memory not too good around here? it was back in the times when you could actually buy northwoods instead of the shite we have now
A little over-knifed there eh?![]()
Got my straggler
I’ve never received a GEC made knife with this much gap between the springs though, is there any way of remedying that? The giraffe bone is awesome however, it’s going to be a great user.
That’s a beauty. There might be some gunk caught between the spring and liner. A real good flushing sometimes helps close them gaps up.![]()

Thanks sir, I tried flushing last night and it seems to have opened the gaps up more. I will try giving it another flush with mineral oil instead of KPL this time, though I’m not sure it makes a difference between the twoThat’s a beauty. I like mineral oil because it’s cheap. I usually find slight GEC gaps subside with usage. If it’s gotten worse, you might have something jammed up in there. I would try some hot soapy water or oil it up real good and break out the air compressor if you have one. Thanks sir, I tried flushing last night and it seems to have opened the gaps up more. What a great display!
"Cha-Ching"... Ignore me, it's just something I do.
View attachment 1675584My first sword arrived today.
I had a Beavertail 23, and let it go because of the pull and size. This is a whole different thing. Dare I say it feels smaller? The pull is strong, but right where it should be.
I think it would feel smaller, even a bit lighter, due to the fact that it does not have the additional liner that made up the liner lock in the single blade 23s. I don't really care for the liner lock on those 23s, though I have gotten used to it by now - hence why I am interested in these Lookout Jacks.
My only disappointment is a didn't get one.Stop watching YouTube and you'll stop being disappointed...![]()
I'm sorry for that. Hopefully you can find one somewhere down the road.My only disappointment is a didn't get one.
