As in the Zulu spear? Those were beautiful. Absoloutley beautifulThe saber grinds make me feel a lot less bad about not scoring any of the last few releases.
Are the days of the FFG mirror polished Northwoods GECs behind us?
I guess the Rustic series Northwoods are the most popular. But every Northwoods pocket knife has done well. I like them all and would like to see some more with the FFG blades. The saber grinds make me feel a lot less bad about not scoring any of the last few releases.

Agreed, was able to score three Esky's (and 3 Lincoln's)...very nice FFG blades! Here is a Black Linen Micarta for reference. Can't agree more, the Esky Zulu is a great slip joint.
I think there is a thread in GB&U about the Northwoods pricing strategy and buying process. If there isn't, you should start one there.CKs Northfield 77 Barlow is probably my favorite GEC knife as far as fit and finish and value. Perfect size for me and robust. While I love any Northwoods and I purchase Northwoods, I feel the 77 is a screamer of a value over any Nothwoods.

GASP! How dare someone say anything less than glowing about Northwoods in this thread!? He said "value." Pricing is only one piece of the value proposition. How Northwoods compare to other knives is a perfectly viable discussion to have here.
I was not discussing the buying process. I was comparing fit and finish and value. Value is not soley based on price. Also I was indirectly adding to the ffg comments and the satin finish comments on preference. I was stating my preference. Seems like you are a moderator. Also you are assuming people are going towards pricing but in actuality you are the only one who discussed price. Not need to jump on people.I think there is a thread in GB&U about the Northwoods pricing strategy and buying process. If there isn't, you should start one there.
Surprised Mr. Knife likes your comment. He has always been reasonable with me in talking about Northwoods and other knives.I understand you would like to get the discussion going again about the "unreasonable markup" on Northwoods knives.
Let's just talk about the knives and not what they cost.
As well there are comments yesterday that discuss exact pricing of little bays compared to exact pricing on this run of knives. Did not see you comment on that? Wow authoritative on here at your discretion!I think there is a thread in GB&U about the Northwoods pricing strategy and buying process. If there isn't, you should start one there.
I'm not comparing 77 to 77. I am comparing what, in my opinion is the best fit and finish premium knife from Northfield to a GEC Northwoods since any Northwoods is a cream of the crop from GEC. I feel that the 77 Bartham is the knife to go up against any Northoods. I left out value so people to not have misinterpretation so one can assume I am referring to fit and finish.I don't believe GEC has done a NW knife on the 77 pattern so what are we comparing the 77 NF barlow to?
Just business. If every GEC made Northwoods slippie sold out in a day, wouldn't you feel like you could charge more? I do. No such thing as unreasonable markup. If you don't want the knife, don't buy it. The market will eventually dictate what is acceptable.I understand you would like to get the discussion going again about the "unreasonable markup" on Northwoods knives.
Very good comment and I respect that view as well as anyone's whether I agree or disagree. It's all in the presentation. Thanks for that nonbiased opinion.Just business.
