I believe this wholeheartedly but I think a lot of people are tired of feeling attached for opinions that are not directed and anyone and are not personal. That is what this forum is for; to talk about your likes and dislikes about knives. Not to dig at each other. But I believe in standing up for yourself if need be. I know a lot of guys have PM'd me with similar feeling. Have we had this discussion before about investing or something earlier in this thread? There is a direct line from MI to GA. I didn’t think it was gonna happen.
In all their ‘glory.’

Thank you, KSF. Your improvements of purchasing has helped your consumers. I had to buy one at a time and was able to get three. I wouldn’t doubt that there’s some ‘fair play purchasing’ happening and those who where paying attention noticed.
As a member of the Porch, there’s some rehtoric and way too much inflammatory opinions being stated in this thread. We treat each other nicely out here, without underhanded comments, being sarcastic, or condescending remarks that are not well disguised as wit. Play nice and leave the garbage for other parts of the forum. One of the great aspects of the porch ,is we respect each other, don’t talk down to others, vendors, or use inappropriate speech for this sub forum.

I agree too and don't take things personally when an innocent opinion is stated and one does not agree. We can agree to disagree in a respectful way and not feel attacked because some feels it is a ding on a brand they love. I know others feel this way as many have stated this as well.I couldn't say it better. Keep it civil and about the knives and the thread will be within the guidelines and enjoyable for all.
Very good points and I comment you for them, even though I sit and wait ony computer at the top of the hour. I respect your thinking and you expressed them in a straightforward courteous way. And I don't necessarily agree with all of what you said!! But I clearly see your point. That would certainly be interesting. I suspect that KSF would like more quality players in the traditional field that they are comfortable carrying their product. I wonder if BRKT is expanding or just replacing equipment? If they begin making slip joints and the quality is consistent with their fixed blades, I think it will change the slippie playing field.
For the most part, I refuse to participate in these limited runs of Northwood knives that GEC makes for them. I will not sit and wait at my computer until the clock strikes 2:00 PM (or whatever) and then rush an order. I've done that. You all can play that game if you want to. But generally the Northwoods GEC made slippies are superb.
Got mine today and very nice fit and finish. Love the nailbreaker pull. Gotta get some photos up when I get home.
My nails are pretty short but I think the pull is pretty stout. You really have to yank on that nail nick to pull that blade out. I am not good with giving the pull a number so I won't even try .. But again, my opinion. Others may find the pull a bit soft on these. When you say "nailbreaker" pull do you feel it's too snappy or just right for a knife this size? I guess I'll know myself tomorrow when mine arrives![]()
Definitely more stiff. But compared to the little bay, the little bay is stiffer than this 15. Also, I am just coming off the TC Barlows and the Calf Ropers, which I thought we surprising very soft. How does the pull compare to your #77?
Mineral oil?Try giving the pivot joint a good flushing, there may be some gunk in there.
Mineral oil?
What do we think of the end cap on these Lincolns?![]()
The slip joint playing field changed when GEC cranked up producing a near "custom knife" quality product. In recent years, it was either Case or Queen after Schrade closed their doors. Of course Canal Street was in the mix too.I d
I don't follow BRKT as closely as others, buy I can confidently say they are expanding, not just replacing. They've spent A LOT of money on HAAS machinery. They are trying to produce more and more of their components in house (for fixed blades), but when people ask about folders, they respond that they are working towards it and that more machinery is coming. A BRKT slipjoint would be amazing. I love GEC. But 22-rimfire, I agree with you, the market is clearly demanding more high quality Slipjoints. The past 10 years has been really exciting for traditional slipjoints and Northwoods has absolutely been a part of that. I think the next 10 will be equally exciting.
I personally like them. They look classy
