Let's talk Northwoods

Exceptionally handsome Northwoods Ratbert Ratbert !

Thanks! This was actually my first foray into the feeding frenzy of a KSF Northwoods drop. I’ve watched before, but never jumped in.
I have really been taken with the Delta Jack. It’s a solid knife with great F&F and one of those classic Northwoods blades.

You "jumped" into the frenzy at a good time and scored one of the best! The Delta Jack is a guaranteed classic, especially the green IMO. Congrats Sir and Merry Christmas!

Yeah, the Green Burlap pretty much spoke to me when I saw the preview on Instagram.
Merry Christmas to you as well, my friend!

image.jpg image.jpg Got an early birthday present a Lincoln Jack! This is my first Northwoods. I love the clip blade but wish it was more pinchable. This is a very nice knife, the action is silky and everything is finished very nicely. Am I right in supposing the bolsters are steel like the liners? It's kinda hard to tell with the brushed finish on them.

I must have missed that post on FB. Honestly, I’m not sure my knife fund can handle any more new releases.
He was responding to a post in a group. Guy was asking if anyone had any Northwoods for sale. Derrick said he knew where there would be some, sometime next week...

Cool! Thanks for the info. It could be the mysterious Barlow that was spotted on GEC website or something based on the 78 or 56 frame. All pure guesswork on my part.

My guess is 56, just because I asked KSF late 2016 about when we might see another run of Burnsides. The response was they were hoping to get a run of them 1st quarter of 2017. Obviously that didn’t happen but with the current run of 56’s...

I'd really like to see a spearpoint or drop point anything. Burnside would be cool. Cost will be a factor for me

Are 56's extremely ergonomic, they look like they'd contour the palm well? I've never held one but they've always looked super strange.

And are they on the smaller side?

It depends what you like. A serpentine or dogleg or reverse dogleg pattern that swoops away from you palm-you'll like the 56. If you like a knife to rise in toward your palm, you like a 57. Myself, I love the 57 pattern and can't stand a 56, but all Derricks NW are amazing SFO's.

If the burnside is the new release hopefully it is the same as prior release which actually makes it a 55 with half stop. Correct me if I'm wrong, 56 doesn't have half stop and last run of burnsides did. If that's true I would be surprised if ksf calls it a burnside because the pattern numbers are different.

I think you’re correct about the 1/2 stop. Same frame though, no? Just a matter of shaping the tang for stop? They would be a rustic series so GEC would be doing a different blade already anyway. Perhaps even if they make the Burnside it might not get released at the same time as the 56’s, isn’t that what happened with the Deltas? Realeased them well after the 35s if I recall. I have a feeling there’s going to be a barrage of different Northwoods this year!

The 35's are a good example of what you guys are discussing. The 35 Calf Pen Jack has half stops and I believe the Delta Jack does too.

The 35 Churchills don't have half stops.
