Let's talk Northwoods

I think you’re correct about the 1/2 stop. Same frame though, no? Just a matter of shaping the tang for stop? They would be a rustic series so GEC would be doing a different blade already anyway. Perhaps even if they make the Burnside it might not get released at the same time as the 56’s, isn’t that what happened with the Deltas? Realeased them well after the 35s if I recall. I have a feeling there’s going to be a barrage of different Northwoods this year!

It's the same frame, but I think KSF would give it a different name (not Burnside) if no half stop. Who knows, I'm only thinking that because that's what GEC does. It might not end up being a 55 or 56 at all. It's possible we may see something on the 78 frame. I'm excited to find out what it will be! I saw some posts somewhere that somebody confirmed it was a clip blade. I liked how the clip blade looked on the little bays. Whatever it is hopefully it doesn't have the increased costs related to retooling like the little bays. We should find out sometime this week...

If anybody finds out please post it!

There was a lot of talk about this pic in the GEC thread a few weeks ago. At the time I was thinking they were probably 77 barlows. Since CK has posted the cover options for the 77 barlow, and none of CK's cover options match this picture it makes me wonder if the upcoming Northwoods is a 78 barlow. Several of the Northwoods releases last year had teaser pictures in the GEC in production images that were removed after 24 hours - like this one. The bolster is blurry.. none of the blades shown. Just some thoughts. Big Bay?

A "Big Bay" would be treading in the same water as the #77 Barlow. I would think there is a gentleman's agreement not to do that.

My theory is the mystery knife is a single blade #77 Barlow that hasn't been announced yet.

Yup. This case is closed. That is what it will be. I love the last Northwoods with a clip blade. This one is going to be special.
Would we not rather have the traditional spearpoint with swedge instead of the rustic?

Edit. I guess it doesn't matter, and they're already made. Have they all but gone away with the original Barlow blade or Esky styling?

All in on 78 Barlow.

Especially sawcut, with steel pins and bolster! I was thinking we were supposed to find out about the release this week... I'm not very fond of the little bay bolster. Hopefully they don't use that but I'm sure they will.

They have gone with the Rustic style the last several times, but I think they will do the more traditional style blades again. They will definitely do the Esky style again. Those very were popular.

Those look really nice. I’m disappointed it’s not the mystery Barlow and with the handle choices but they still look cool and are good for trading on the value side of things.

Are we maybe looking at back to back drops? These are not the same as the picture above that has been floating around with the clip blade?

KSF just posted the above picture on FB stating these drop tomorrow at 4pm est.

Nothing was said about the clip point Barlow.
