Let's talk Northwoods

Got mine in the mail today. My first Northwoods release! Been lurking for a while and finally decided to make an account.
 
Arrived today and, though I was a bit hesitant entering the fray to snag one, glad I decided to go for it. Love the shape. Went for the burlap micarta as I figured it would be easier to acquire. Having it in hand, kind of wish I would have tried my luck for a giraffe bone!!!

Hey guys, I just recently got interested in traditional folders and really like the look of the Northwoods knives I came across. Unfortunately, I then found out that they were near impossible to acquire haha. So my question to you knowledgeable gents is: around how often do new batches come out? And is there any schedule of what models will come out at what times? I would love to get my hands on a demin Madison Barlow or Michigan Jack.

There is no schedule to speak of. Usually only an announcement of the drop day and time shortly before it happens.

If I'm not mistaken, these Fayette Jacks were revealed only one day before the drop. Until then we were only guessing what the pattern would be. We get little hints in advance (or we sometimes think we do) but seldom do we really know anything for sure until the official announcement.

These Fayette Jacks were thought by many to be either a #78 pattern or a Barlow. Derrick likes to keep us on our toes.:)

To stay as informed as possible, keep an eye on this thread, sign up for Northwoods email notifications on the KSF website, and watch Derrick's Facebook page like a hawk.

Haha well they sure like to make it difficult to buy these damn things don't they. Thanks for all the info. I started following KSF on instagram so hopefully I can get the jump on the next drop, assuming it's something I want.

I received my denim Fayette jack yesterday. Very good fit and finish overall. Blade looks just a slight bit to pile side but not bad at all.

KSF changed the slip again. This looks like the slips used in 2017 but it’s a tad narrower with two lanyard holes near the top.

Knife has a half stop and it fits the hand nicely in a grip. These knives will be great users.

Contact Knives ship free via phone is what I would recommend and ask to get on there E-mailing list / phone text to get notifications when the next run will be . Also make sure your on a preferred desk or lap top for the fastest speed available . Be ready to buy the minute there out up for sale , don’t fall in love trying to pick one because they will be gone in minutes and that’s no exaggeration , don’t think because you have one in your cart it’s yours because it can and will be takened out of your cart if someone finishes the checkout buy process before you do . Be ready for some disappointments and frustrations “from my experience “ when the first few get snagged right from underneath you .
That is the best advice I can give you and hope it helps and may the force be with you :D
