Let's talk Northwoods

Dang it.. I was worried that might be the case with the blade shape. Anyone else have that so far?

Neither one of mine have this issue, both tips are perfectly sunk. It's a hit/miss thing with GEC as I do get the occasional one with a slightly proud tip. Once I did receive a 74 in cougar claw that was dangerously proud, the dealer promptly replaced with a perfect example since it was still in stock.

Yes, you could certainly sand the kick and drop the point, very easy to do.
Maybe Im being dramatic, its not like its sticking way up, but I can press my finger in there with moderate pressure and prick it. Any diabetics wanna trade? Lol.

I have a Le Thiers with a proud tip when closed. It has proven difficult to modify because it is a liner lock (no kick to file down) and has a stop pin. I ended up filing down the ricasso a very small amount and that at least kept the tip from catching and opening, though I can still feel the tip when I rub my finger over when it closes. I'm guessing that modifying a Fayette will be easier since it has a kick?
Yes absolutely, I would do just a very little at time so do you don’t end up with blade slap when closing

Same here , debated over knife above for at least two weeks. Turns out only 14 made

Glad I was not the only one too. I saw the Presidential sitting there for a while too just could not jump on it. I even saw when the last one was in stock and when it was sold. Now I wish I got it because it's a nice pattern but I have to hunt it down.

Oh and my Fayette Jack in Blue Denim Micarta should be in today with another non-NW knife. I am very excited for it. Been wanting to try this pattern out for a while.

It is beautiful is all respects except one.
The tip is so high you can easily catch your skin on it. Same thing I had with one of my 78s.
A bit crazy considering the price tag, and there is plenty of room in the well to sink it.

I think you file the tang down very slightly and sink your tip so it doesn’t catch.

My denim micarta doesn’t have this issue.

The Factor is correct, it can be hit or miss.

I think that GEC leaves a lot of material on the tang so it can be adjusted down the road when the knife is sharpened.

Shades of blue in ATL.

I will say it again, that is an unseen Northwoods on the coin. I mentioned it before, but no bites. Before this knife on the coin now, it was a Presidential. It looks like a ‘front flipper’ or ‘pull’(?), but I’m an amateur at best.

I also really like these Fayette’s pocket sheath. It’s nice to have options.

If I recall correctly, someone said that the knife on the coin could have been a friction folder but I could be wrong.

Ohh, those sheaths are quite similar to the older ones that they use to sell. I wish I got more of the ones with the belt clip. I ended up having to use paracord on the clip less ones to get it onto the belt.

Got my fayette in today, f&f is quite good and I really like the pattern. Only complaint is I wish the pull was a little more stiff.

Got my Fayette in Denim today too. The centering is noticeably off to the pile side, looks like uneven grinds. It's not rubbing so that's good. I am a little bummed about it as I was hoping for better especially from Northwoods. Nonetheless, it is still a really great knife and it feels quite good in hand. I am pleasantly surprised. It reminds me of how the GEC 92 feels in hand.

Got my denim micarta Fayette over the weekend and was thrilled to see it had brushed hardware as the polished always picks up scratches too easily in my pocket. Also liking the size of this one over the Delta Jack as it's a bit smaller in all dimensions. My first experience with Northwood's denim micarta and it's very warm in the hand which is nice for this time of year.

Well my Giraffe Bone and red linen showed up and I must say I’m very disappointed. I was hoping I wouldn’t like them so I could sell them but instead I love them both:D So there not going Anywere ! Both are great examples with nice walk and talk and fit and finish . Both blades are nestled in nicely with no protruding tip as some have mentioned .With The Giraffe bone the blade is dead centered and the covers have grown on me and actually match and blend much better in person with hints of the orange fading into the show side . The non show side has Tons of character I really like the contrast between the two . The red linen is another fine example with the blade center just a tad favoring the non show side but very exceptable to me . I can’t believe the fit and finish on these with no gaps Anywere on neither .
Bravo KSF and Gec what a great job !
Well worth the hunt when the flag was dropped lol . It’s funny I like the red linen and thought that was going to be my fav but the originality and character of this Giraffe bone has stole my heart .

The Giraffe Bone dye has stepped it game up. I love the colors on this run.

Those are beautiful examples! Tons of character. Factor your giraffe is one of the nicest I have seen, such rich blends of color. And holy cow that Green one is a an absolute rare gem Kaput!

Indeed. I only saw 2 greens before I decided and snagged it. I really am enjoying it.

I'll post a pic of the other side tomorrow ;) wink wink

Had to wait until I got off work but here is mine. The tip does not protrude at all... excellent F&F, no gaps and centered. Good snap, pinchable. I didn't try on the last two Northwoods releases, but something told me to hustle on this one and so glad I did. Couldn't manage to get the lighting quite right but this shows the colors pretty well

So from what I am gathering, the Red, Black and Giraffe got the polished treatment, and the burlap and denim are satin?
