Let's talk Northwoods

Looks like Giraffe bone, Mammoth Ivory and the Micartas. The Big Bay doesn't look right (proportional) to me. Blade seems to short for the handle.. Might sit this one out.

I'm kind of disappointed with these... I would've preferred no caps or double caps to the bolster they chose. Is this equal-end or tapered like the American Jack?

I've got to think it's on the 78 frame, since they were just ran. So, not equal end.

I picked this up today at a hardware store. I have contacted KSF to get any info. This is my first Northwoods knife. Blade and box are marked Gladstone, MI.

Nice find. Not many hardware stores carry really nice knives anymore.

No flames from me, but I do find it hard to believe that there isn’t at least one Northwoods hat you secretly covet. I will refer you to the beautiful Fremont Jack shown above.

HaHa! Alright, I did/do like the Hawthorne Jack in stag with a clip blade o_O

I like a lot of the older Northwoods releases. Those look really classic and cool. I have only been carrying/collecting/admiring traditional knives since May of 2017. The one Northwoods I have hung onto is my denim Hawthorne Jack with wharncliffe blade. The releases after the Hawthorne Jack just haven’t impressed me enough to keep. It’s just my opinion. Great knives just nothing standout the last few releases.

It’s the rounded top of the bolster that doesn’t do it for me. I am sure the price will be higher than Tcs and northwoods barlows too so there is that also.

I have the Hawthorne clip in burlap and that is a sweet knife that I won’t be letting go.

I think you’re right about the rounded top part of the bolster looking weird. I also do not like the arrowhead stamp the more I look at it. My friend said it reminds him of a Christmas tree. I do think the overall shape looks a lot better open though.

I think the rounded bolster matches the flow of the cover up to the butt were it’s rounded also . But I don’t think the clip point compliments it at all . Have to have one in hand though to see for sure and don’t think that’s going to happen unless I have time to click on a picture longer then a second to buy one so I can see both sides .
I won’t be throwing one in my cart wrecklesly just to buy one ever again !
