Let's talk Northwoods

Let's keep the eBay reports out of here please. Discuss the knives, not the purchasing process.

The Kudu looks interesting. Can't wait to hear everybody's impression of it when they are in-hand.

You can, go to your order and you will see a tiny thumbnail. right click on it and "open in new tab" then you will see in the address bar that the image size is 100x100. add a zero to each side so it say 1000x1000 and then click enter. your image will now show the larger size. presto.

AWESOME! I never would have thought of that. Thanks for the tip!

Got distracted right around 4 and missed this one. Really wanted a kudo to match my Arno Bernard. Will have to see if I can track one down.

Interesting thought that they might not use GEC anymore. I have to say that I wasn’t happy with my recent Fremont scores and sold them both. However, they had all hallmarks of a GEC knive. The weak pull and lackluster walk and talk killed it for me. Unfortunately that has been seen on some GEC knives as well lately. Still on the fence about the Bear Lake.

I just received one with a very weak pull. I never experienced anything like this before . Seems like I cold almost shake it out. What should I do, send it in?

I don't think you'll find it too big unless you like really small knives. I may be mistaken but I thought I read somewhere that these are 3 1/2 inches closed but look much larger in the pics.

For knives that cost as much as they do and the frenzy around each release they're sure stingy with the details. I saw the handle length but no mention of the blade length or weight so we'll see.

I just went straight for the Kudu. Had to flip through a few pages as the first ones disappeared super quick and my connection started lagging. Looking at a tiny pic on your phone isn’t the best way to buy a knife, but I like the two tone on this one.

Someone asked a few pages back what resin filled handles felt like. They’re certainly not sticky! They’re pretty much like acrylic I would say. The burlap micarta is probably as much resin filled as the kudu bone. I have quite a few knives that have soft burl wood handles that have been stabilized with resin. I dare say they are just as sturdy as a good hardwood.

What is Curaco burlap? I mean does Curaco refer to the manufacturer of the burlap? I've not seen that on a Northwoods folder before, but I may be mistaken. Looks much like the similar large weave burlap micartas they've used before.
Yes-curaço is normally referring to a liquor, that is either blue, or orange/brown-like in color. Just a color reference.

Wow those look like excellent pocket knives. I'll have to try and find one for sale on the Exchange. I can usually score most of the GEC SFO'S like the TC Barlows or BladeForums knives but I'm usually a day late and a dollar short when it comes to any of the Northwoods knives. Thank goodness for the secondary market :D:thumbsup:

Missed out on this one due to work related reasons and being out of cell phone towers reach lol . But looking forward to seeing everyone’s scores and there thoughts with the fit and finish/walk and Talk on this run compared to the last
