Let's talk Northwoods

These came out pretty well. As others have said its pretty much a scaled down version of the Fremont, although the action on this one seems a bit better than on the Fremont.

Little comparison just for fun

Anyone else flitz off the rustic finish on their Northwoods sometimes? Or is it just me? I like them both ways just like a variety I suppose. It's such a great blade shape design.

It'll patina naturally again anyways.
Looks naked , lol. I’ve cut a couple apples with my knife ( same exact one) and it has taken some of the pitina off...

Some really nice looking Bear Lake knives!

Unfortunately my Bear Lake in Curaco Burlap went back to KSF due to bad fit and finish. The satin on the bolsters and blade was all over the place. Looked like it was hand sanded by a drunk monkey at 4:30 on a Friday. The pin on the rear bolsters was not blended and completely showing and there were three diagonal scratches on the blade. This knife was the worst GEC made knife I've ever received.

Really wanted to like my Bear Lake, but I passed on it. I didn't send it in to GEC for service because it seems that lately my customer service experience with highly respected knife makers has been problematic. Never had a problem with GEC customer service in the past, but I just didn't want to deal with it. Hard to ever love a knife when it starts out going back to the manufacturer right out of the gate.

I removed the slag from my Michigan Jack and polished it some.

Nice.....Very Nice....Nay, Excellent! Plus I love Italian Jigging.
Thank you !
The Italian Jigging is superb if my I may add. There isn’t a sharp edge anywhere down to the bolsters all smooth as silk .
The pins are nestled in nicely also matching perfectly on both sides .
It really is an amazing work of craftsmanship.

A picture says a 1000 words as they say :)
Best fit and finish and walk and talk out of any NW I’ve ever owned .
Must be from the old school ;)

The gunstock pattern is one Queen really had nailed down, imo. I have several fine examples. No Northwoods though.
