Bladeite it looks like he's holding the machete correctly in the picture.... unless that finger choil isn't for fingers?
Cut the man some slack, he's an entertainer that enjoys survival skills, his off the grid house was a far cry from a cave and while building up his property he was often not there because of business. If I were skilled, determined and lucky enough to sell out for cash you can bet I would, they don't pay you if you don't.... same for Cody Lundin.
For the comments that these tools won't or wouldn't work in a survival situation, I have to call blatant BS, if I could chop down a tree with a claw hammer as a kid and build a rudimentary cabin that survived two winters before the roof caved in with snow (no internal columns supporting the roof) with no tools besides said hammer and a dull as heck old hatchet then I am fairly sure that I could use most modern implements just fine.
Gimmiks, the knife world is full of gimmiks, this includes ALL blades, there has to be a reason to sell something. Moras are a great value, so are Opinels etc. Sebenzas are smooth opening... THAT is a gimmik.
Beckers are over built... is that not a gimmik?
I'm not being a hater, I like Becker, I like most knives that aren't fantasy like the Tracker or those Klingon things.... and many of those freaky ones like "spantos" or machetes with a "v' grind a convex grind and a chisel grind with two sections of spine, one rounded and the other squared for striking michemetel or however you spell it.
I can do nothing but applaud the man for bringing something to television that does not include a massive dose of idiocy.
