Links to my YouTube knife reviews (updated January 31, 2015)

Vous faites des vidéos en Français? J'apprends Français

Sorry, no, but I am sure there must be other knife reviews in French on YouTube - search for "couteau".

PS My first language is actually Dutch :-)

It's very generous of you to make all these reviews available. Interesting, impartial and well-judged videos that really raise interest in the knives:thumbup:

Dagon,

Love your knife and book reviews. Keep them coming!

Is your native language Flemish? I hear shades of French, German, and maybe British English in your accented English. Which would make sense. It's quite beautiful, actually.

Oh yes, and to be bluntly honest (;)), I'd like to see if you would warm up to the Sebenza at some point. Especially the ones with wood inlays, which would seem to suit your general aesthetic. Would make a nice addition to both your collection and reviews, I'd think. But you might have to have it in-hand first, to really come to appreciate its design and function.

Edited to add:

Oh, see your native language is Dutch. Not too far from Flemish, I guess (to a silly American, anyway).

Dagon,

Excellent informative reviews. I do like your no biased honest opinions and the clear way you introduce the knives.

About the "Neo-regional French knives" i agree with you, pure marketing. I don't understand why some makers feel obliged to tell us fairy tales about their own designs. "Breizh kontell" means "Brittany knife" in the old Britton language of this particular area. It's happy the maker didn't use the words "Breizhonneg kontell", "Britton knife", because there have never been any typical "Britton knife".

Thanks for your reviews. Waiting for new ones.

Actually I am Flemish, the language is in essence the same as Dutch, it's only that people from Holland and Flanders use a somewhat different sounding tone in their voice.

Re: Sebenza: well, yes, I played with a few over the last few years, I could even buy one second hand at one point, and I do see the obvious quality, but it never really attracted me. But probably I'll one day have to invest in a Sebenza.
In general similarly priced Klotzli knives are more my style.

The Mnandi however has been tempting me, I will eventually succumb to it...

Dantzk, do you have experience with the Perceval L10?
I find it very attractive in pictures, but haven't been able to try one yet.

There are still some approx. 15 reviews to do before I am through my current collection, rest assured.

I only have handled a one. Large knife, surprisingly lightweight and pocketable, very well made, expensive for a 19C27 steel blade but the finish worth the price i think. I like the modified wharmcliffe blade shape. You like the "Le Français" if i well remember, i bet you would like this one too.

Good new, thanks.

Word usage and grammar are slightly different as well though. The order in which verbs are used is often different in Flemish as well as the meanings of some of the words.

A flemish teacher comes to mind who would tell her dutch students ( she worked in the Netherlands) not to "walk" in the hallway. The word she used meant "to run" in Flemish but "to walk" in Dutch, earning her some questioning looks from her students.

But nice reviews.

Excellent work and reviews Dagon! Please keep them coming. It seems that you like Boker knives quite a bit and I would love to see a good review by you of the Boker Karambit. It also is a Chad Los Banos design with 440c and G10 and VERY cheap at less than $30 in the US.

If you would do a video about Karambits that would be much appreciated!

Today's addition - classic elegance on a budget:

49. Rough Rider big and a small "sunfish" knives

You'll be amazed at the luxury/price ratio when you see the handle of the small one, I promise.

Thanks for the kind feedback. It's encouraging.
I don't have the CLB Karambit. Actually I don't have any Karambit, as it's not really my kind of knife.
But, for what it's worth, I did play with it in the shop and I must say that the perception of quality/finish/price ratio is astounding. Boker is really getting their act together with the Boker Plus series: good designs made to a high standard at wide audience prices.
I am highly tempted by the new Boker Plus Skellern 1 and 2 for example.

Hey Dagon,

In the first post you list "citadel khukuri" but it seems to link to wrong vid, and I couldn't find it from your channel.

Thanks, no problem!
I've been admiring citadels every now and then. Thanks for the good reviews!
