Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

@r redden Randy,
There are some left on the shelves, so check out their stock.

I would say it is less tough than Elmax and just under S35vn in toughness, but slightly higher in stainlessness, and quite a bit better working edge holding than both. Don't forget that these are going to be thinner BTE than most moderns so the toughness, while ample, might be breached if cutting very heavily soiled wood at a camp site, or other gritty work.

There is a custom maker on here that has been taking a modern approach to traditionals. Like front flipper Sodbusters with a liner lock and 52100 ran to 60-62.
Look up @nighthaxan and see what he has available. He is a good guy to work with (made my first Father's day gift for me), and he does a great job on his knives.

I got the tracking info today and Friday is my expected delivery date also Bill. I have not posted much in this thread but have to admit I have been quite excited about this one. I really like the idea of one of our oldest and most treasured knife patterns as almost a cross over knife between traditional and modern. I wish now I would have bought 2 one to just put back as a safe queen and one to use. The one that's coming I plan to use the fire out because of my curiosity as to how it performs. I have never owned a Lionsteel knife and do not have anything with M390 steel. If it's anywhere close to the knives I have with Elmax or S35V I'll be very happy. Everybody remember to post pictures when yours come in I'm curious as to how they look particularly the CF covers. I ordered the Santos wood.

Yeah, in some ways it's kind of a shame. The price is a good deal, and I'm betting future availability will be low, so given the niche design, good execution, and variety of handle materials, I'm expecting a certain amount of future collectability.

... but even though the price is a good deal, I couldn't afford to buy more than one. :( And honestly I couldn't really even afford that, I just felt too guilty to cancel or welsh on my preorder.

I am tempted but fortunately or unfortunately too broke to buy another which would probably be the abalone as it really does look great in the image they have up on the CK site. If I could pick that one up it would probably end up my only safe queen that I would likely later flip or trade for something else.

What struck me first getting it in hand is how amazingly light it feels compared to the standard nickel, ss, and brass bolstered traditionals I am used to. Like holding a shadow pattern.

Second is how nice the extra texture provided by the rounded spine is. So used to liners, springs and covers being all flush (or close to flush), and blending together up there. A great change of pace for my thumb!

Yeah, I'm betting this one will be pretty collectible pretty fast. I sure wish I'd been able to buy a couple more.
