In going thru these there are a lot of really dark (read black) horn that looks outstanding. Although the nice big texture in the factory picture is slim pickins; I have had to fight the urge to set some of these dark versions aside.

Just got my tracking info so I guess my Barlow is on its way to the knife sharpener then home to me. :D I doubt it needed it mind you I just did that so I could have a U.S. address to send it to because I live in Canada. It means a little more wait time but I'd rather that then hoping to pick one up on the Exchange.
As sweet looking as these are that might take forever  :D
Thanks for the opportunity Mike they all look amazing

I have my fingers crossed that i receive a really dark one. I didnt think to request a dark version until it was too late. Order number is #11672 if you still think you could make that happen... ;)

Not too familiar with the 390 steel... is that something that a non- knife sharpening expert will be able to keep sharp?

M390 has incredible wear resistance. Makes D2 seem like 420HC for edge retention.
But it needs at least aluminum oxide for sharpening. Diamond hones are better. I have touched up an M390 blade on a Sharpmaker, and that works.

I was going to sit this one out but I might have to get one after reading that. How much Chromium is in M390?
