Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

I should have my Stag on Saturday I am looking forward to it and I am jealous of any of the abalone ones they are beautiful but I can't spend that kind of money now.

I've been forcing my self to love my start into single blade traditionals (Beer Scouts, Farm and Fleet, Bullnose), but they don't hold the same pull as a Spyderco PM2 sprint runs or my CRK Inkosi.

My two Roundheads come tomorrow (CF&Wood) and I think they are just what the doctor ordered. Great tough stainless blade, tough titanium build on modern construction details with a homage to traditionals per se.

Received my CF CK Edition Euro Barlow today. Have to concur with the others, what nice knife! Pull is light, but, oh so smooth and deliberate. Don't quite know how to describe it, it is light, but, does not feel lazy. The fit and finish is very good. I really notice the difference in the spring "feel" during the "walk" I wonder if you can attribute it to the Ti as opposed to stainless spring on traditional traditionals. I also really feel the stop pin as opposed to the traditional kick hitting the spring. The knife is light and pinchable, looks good, is a nice size, and functions great, awesome effort, thank you CK and lionsteel.

Having seen the disassembly pictures, not only are the slabs customisable but this knife doesn't have to remain a barlow even. You could turn it into any type of cover.

Ok, for those of you planning on making scales:

For an easy way to mark the pin location for clearance, use a dry erase marker or a paint marker since it will wipe easily or stay wet, and coat the pin/rivets.
Now press your handle material down onto the wet writing medium to mark the drill holes and take a small bite with a drill press and see if they line up. If they do, progress to the depth required.

One other option would be to mark a wooden paint stirrer, piece of micarta, or corian and drill those holes completely through.
This now offers a template to trace onto your new slabs, remove your material and get to shaping.
------
As far as shaping goes, pull your slabs off and trace them onto a piece of angle iron. Cut the excess from around the slab profile and mount the vertical part of the angle iron into your vice.

You now have a perfect handle sized work platform that will allow you to shape your handle slabs without marring the Ti liners.

I was thinking the same thing. Placing a full cover handle slab would definitely be nice and would reduce the weight as well. I can't wait to see what people can do with it.

Lol, I mentioned that Way back on page 8, though I kept the name Barlow to keep with the knifes origin.
More ideas popping in my head about aftermarket possibilities...
What about a shadow Barlow, no bolster.
Or a Barlow with tip bolsters on g10 liners?

Abalone shadow with black and blue g10 liners, sign me up.

Wow some beauties on here! That first Rams Horn... Mike is right that one is outstanding. I am happy with mine, very light.. like others I was a little surprised by that, light pull but not lazy, very smooth. Extremely comfortable to hold and great size. Mine has some texture which I requested and appreciate getting, many thanks Mike.. home run on these! Excuse the low light at work picture.

Absolutely Fantastic!
Right out of the packaging and into the pocket and at work. Right where it belongs

It has been fun living vicariously through others, but I want to knock on my local post offices delivery bay door and ask for mine...

I gotta stay away from this thread....or a Barlow will be in my shopping cart soon. The biggest thing that is pushing me towards this blade is definitely the M390.

Well, then stay out tomorrow and over the weekend. Many will be landing tomorrow and some possibly on Saturday.

Just buy one, who knows if it will happen again.

This was from Way Back when, on page 5:
Though I Hate the thought of this; it is entirely possible that this can possibly be the only run ever made.
- Think of your Loved ones, the ones that this will be passed down to.
- Think of your Loved ones, the ones that these will be bought for (the Wife).
- Think of your Loved ones, the loved knives that will be in our pockets having to now be accepting of the new hot foreign pocket-wife (sorry meant Knife*)
- Think of your Loved ones, the ones that we will be feeding and supporting with this purchase (Mike).

We all know what it is like when we miss that new patterns release (38 Grinling, Northwoods Hawthorne, et al)
Come on folks, don't let this one chance slip by you.

Did it work? Did you get one yet?

I got mine thurs. I like it too. It's an interesting sort of hybrid but it does what it is designed to do which is cut and slice. I honestly hope they don't start making runs in different steels or woods because it could get expensive. I'm not usually a stainless guy but M390 isn't bad as a blade steel. It has a nice feel to it and is a pretty good size. I'm glad I ordered and feel fortunate to have seen it here on the porch. :)

That's where I am at, I had reserved one early on and kept my reservation. But I hit the lotto and reserved my TC Barlow that I wont be selling and will be in my collection forever. So I dropped my reserve on one of these...I am worrying I am gonna miss out on a classic. I am seriously considering just grabbing a santo cover version....But I am trying to limit my knife purchases....oh the conundrum

Forget that, imagine the two blade version or the clip blade version on a different frame!
