Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

I leave for vacation tomorrow...I doubt mine will get here by then. :( I'm really looking forward to the CF, they look gorgeous.

And I'll probably have to get that Palo Santo piece as well. It's much darker and prettier than I thought it'd be.

These really take some of the wind out of the GEC 25 sails for me. These are much more interesting.

I agree. I have two 25's coming which i am looking forward too but i am happier with this one in my possession then the anticipation of the 25's. This knife covered a lot of bases for me and more then lived up to my expectations

I'm usually not much of a traditional guy, but apparently I preordered a CF model way back when. Totally forgot about it until I received the invoice, and today the knife landed in my hands.

First impressions are solid; the finishing is very nice, the blade is sharpened very well, and the action is nice. It doesn't have too strong of a pull and it appears to actually use washers as well. I will say that there is a visible gap between the backspring and the liners though, which the one GEC I own (a #72) does not have.

CK's designs Italian & US made, similar but different

My Trio arrived here today. They are all great knives, every bit as good as I hoped for. The action on them is consistently good as others have described its an easy pull with great snap. These are my first knives from Lionsteel and I am impressed, they do good work. Carbon fiber, rams horn and santos wood. Got a beautiful light blonde rams horn with some texture to it, very nice. My first knife with rams horn, it is a beautiful translucent handle material.

The santos wood is a beautiful dark red, here is a comparison shot of it next to rosewood, and bloodwood along with a rust red bone

Another comparison shot of the Eurobarlow to some other knives

Here are a couple of spine shots. The carbon fiber and santos wood scales are flush with the bolsters. The rams horn are a bit thicker but not overly thick at all, nicely smoothed at the bolster (no sharp edges)

Wow you got a nice 4 pack there Tom! Especially that stag. It's just as nice as Mikes.:thumbsup:

The horn no matter light or dark, smooth or textured all looks fantastic. Surprisingly the santos with the darker red color just suits the knife.
Postman will be delivering my CF today...may just be jumping back in to order a santos.

Received my CF today and am very impressed with the knife, though I knew I would be. Italians are good knife makers. The word I'd use to describe all aspects of the knife is "smooth". The pull is a smooth pinchable 5 or 6 and very smooth. Even the sharp corner of the tang that sticks up when a knife is closed is knocked off. Very good blade to handle ratio. A very well made knife.
If you open the knife and lay it down and put a piece of paper between the tip of the knife and a spot on the spine just in front of the nail nick, you can see what a great clip point it could make. Maybe give the piece of paper just a slight bow, or radius. Looks nice.
If I were designing a knife like this, one consideration would be the flats on the sides of the knife. There's no reason that they have to be perfectly flat. My old Imperials and two customs from Dunlap have slightly rounded sides on them, and it makes the knife look "warmer", less mechanical, better finished.
Overall, I'm very pleased with this knife, and appreciate the price that I can afford. If it weren't for the M390 steel, it's one that would not have attracted my attention. This is no safe queen for me. :)

After seeing all of these Ram Horns I keep telling my "you don't need another one"

All of the light Ramshorns are just as nice as the black ones! The wood, stag and CF are all just great. I have liked every single knife I've seen. I've heard people say home run, I'm going to say grand slam!! Thanks for the marathon shipping effort as well!

That dark rams horn is really pretty also, almost looks like buffalo horn.

I was thinking of some great material alternatives for the customizing or if they do another run of these or similar traditional modern breed. I think these would make for some good options: G10, Kirinite, Micarta, and Dyed Jigged Bone.
