Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

Oh man, I don't think I could be more impressed with my ramshorn. Soooooooo happy! The CF and abalone are nice but this RH has me giddy. It's got black, brown, white, smooth, rough, and a translucent spot that shows depth.

I can't wait to see all three in the sunlight.

Yeah I knew I would like the Rams Horn too. Very beautifully done.

Almost nothing better then when a knife makes you Giddy :)
Share a Picture or two if you can so we all can enjoy some giddiness!

Whew! Just finished putting a nice, thin convex edge on my Barlow, M390 is about as resistant to sharpening as anything I've tackled. I knew this of course having thinned the edge on another Lion Steel modern using the same steel. The edge on the Barlow was a little thicker behind the edge than I had hoped, mine came in around .025" which meant quite a bit of work was needed. Patience is required and a lot of it, it took me approx. twice as long on the Barlow as on a Case/Bose in 154 CM to achieve the same end result. Worth the effort as it cuts like a banshee!

My only complaint is the issue with a pair of screws slightly deformed/stripping
Stripped Screws (both screws on pile side has deformation but back screw is bad)

I ordered a cf and rams horn Wednesday night and can't wait for them to get there! These are my first two slip joints that I have bought since I was a kid, probably 35+ years, but I have numerous old traditionals that were handed down to me from my grandads and dad.

There have been a few GEC's that I liked but I could not get them at release and am not willing to pay the same price (or more) as these for stainless liners and 1095 steel.

Got my Palo Santo in earlier today. I wasn't very impressed with it at first, but after fondling it a bit, I kinda liken it to the Sebenza of slipjoints. Modern materials, superb fit and finish, and a very smooth hydraulic opening. The pull is weaker than the GECs that I'm used to, but it's taking no time to get used to. Really looking forward to putting the M390 to use. Mike and Lionsteel knocked it out of the park, and I hope Lionsteel doesn't stop making slipjoints. They've obviously got a knack for it.

Beautiful knives everyone of them!! It's going to be a 4 week turnaround getting mine in the mail and heading to me from the Sharpener. So I guess I'll just have to settle for living vicariously through this thread;)

I got the CF version, and really do like the knife. The CF is a little dull, so I went to work on it. First I rubbed a little "Lin-Speed" gunstock oil on it, let it soak in, then polished it with a cotton rag. It helped, but needed a bit more. I took a rag loaded with fine metal polishing cream and rubbed the covers for a while, then went to a 1 micron diamond paste. The carbon fiber now has more shine and depth. I wrapped the bolster with scotch tape first. I may put a coat of Johnson's Paste Wax on it.
I'm going to re-profile the blade to 15 degrees on my Edge Pro as soon as the newness wears off. Might be a while.
No fit and finish issues on my knife at all. It's perfect to my eyes. The factory edge was real well done. It came to a nice apex everywhere. I prefer a lesser angle and a finer grit, but what the factory did was very well done.

Any before and after pictures ?
Would love to see them!

In all of my excitement ordering the CF
Version I forgot to thank the most important one involved and that's Mike @ CK knives who made this happen by going off the well beaten path and of course Lionsteel .
Thank You !!
What a great concept and doorway to the "new traditional "

It's probably a good thing the pull on these is a bit on the light side. I think a lot is these are going to be purchased by "new to slipjoiint" owners and a heavy pull might be off putting (if not dangerous, with the half stop).

I'm making an assumption here, but with the m390 steel (assuming the spring is equal on the hardness scale) the pull should remain fairly constant thought it's lifetime.

As others have stated previously, if a knife it to hard to open I typically pass over it when selecting my daily carry.
