Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

Hmm, signed up for rams horn, bit the abalone is tempting too. Cool to have some different cover options like this

OK. Fine. You bunch of enablers. I changed my reservation from "maybe" to "sure"
Now, I'm really not gonna buy any more new knives this year!

Are the bolster screws titanium also, in case someone wanted to anodize the bolster? Also, what are those weird looking 22 shells?

Haven't opened one, but figure it is old rat shot. Found them in a jar at my grandad's house years ago. Will check on the screws.

Nice, love the props being from your grandad's house. Definitely let us know on the screws. Might stay which way I go.

Those are .22 shot shells. Used them all the time for snakes when I was a kid, in my single shot .22.
Nice, I've only ever seen the cci kind with the blue plastic cover. I keep those around in 22, 38, and 44 for snakes as well.

I was this > < close to signing up for one of these, but as Brett (KBA) has recently reminded me, I don't need any more knives. I really thought about getting one for my wife, since she uses a Victorinox Pioneer and I am always having to sharpen it for her, so the better steel has some merit. But she'd probably never give up the other tools on the Vic.

So I passed the test, and have resisted the urge. :(

Brett needs to keep those type of thoughts to himself.

I'm really trying to limit my traditional collecting to Henckels and GEC, but I went "sure" for the horn. An Italian made modern barlow in M390 with (possibly) smooth-ish blond horn scales ticks too many boxes for me not to give it a try.

Ouch,!! That was in another thread as well :o John knows I was joking, I hope.

Sorry Mike. :(

John, in all fairness that was pertaining to modern one handers, not modern traditionals. :D

Though I Hate the thought of this; it is entirely possible that this can possibly be the only run ever made.
- Think of your Loved ones, the ones that this will be passed down to.
- Think of your Loved ones, the ones that these will be bought for (the Wife).
- Think of your Loved ones, the loved knives that will be in our pockets having to now be accepting of the new hot foreign pocket-wife (sorry meant Knife*)
- Think of your Loved ones, the ones that we will be feeding and supporting with this purchase (Mike).

We all know what it is like when we miss that new patterns release (38 Grinling, Northwoods Hawthorne, et al)
Come on folks, don't let this one chance slip by you.

Did it work? Did you get one yet?

That's a great point. I think the Abalone is going to look amazing. If not, I can always take them off, store the covers, and get some micarta done for it.

John, don't count on the secondary market my friend. :D

Yes this ticks a lot of boxes. Traditional design using modern materials. I do like the high end blade steel. I have had a couple knives with M390 and its a great steel. The variety of handle materials and the titanium bolsters are a nice touch also. Tough to decide which handle material I would like the best, they all sound great.

I am going to add to this again. CF has me excited, as do the screws! Backed out on cocobolo, as I have a number of cocobolo and ebony knives. So stag will be my 2nd choice. I was to the point where I have enough, and it would have to be very special (or a super goog deal) for me to consider it. Too many things on my list to not be excited about this!

Mike, I think this will sell very well. A really, really good modern blade steel on a triumphantly resurgent pattern. I'm not a hater, it's just not my brand of whisky - the frame size and shape just doesn't sit right to my eye and the screws in the bolster don't do it for me.
I hope all who want them manage to get [emoji4]

Remember this you enabler. (Yes, I'm thinking you may as well go all the way with the modern materials for a futuristic Barlow.)
The sure on the CF is all your fault. :D

I really need to stop reading this thread. I reserved a Cocobolo and keep telling myself that the one is perfectly adequate. Then I read all the posts here and start talking myself into a stag or maybe a rams horns or maybe even an abalone...

All that said, Mike, this sure looks like it's shaping up to be a home run. Thanks for doing it. If there's another run of them, I think a lion stamp on the bolster would look really cool.

Remember folks, Ti does take a beautiful scrimshaw, especially if you have it Ano'd after and then polish the highs.
This will leave the scrimshaw ano'd but not the bolsters. Due to the Ano being "sunken" it won't scratch. It will be somewhat protected and last quite a bit longer, as looking new.
