I wonder why the bolster is radiused on the bottom, myself. It seems like the top of the handle slab should either be radiused too or neither of them should.Hey Mike Latham... The gap between the bolsters and the covers, is that needed for any reason? If there's a reason, then so be it, but I find it mildly objectionable. It looks like a well made mistake. Any chance it could bee eliminated on the next run? Thanks. Stan in Idaho.
Any thoughts on running some "switch out" covers - different woods, micarta etc we can buy.... some nice cnc'd ones.
Bill
My CF is only a few miles from my house to In routeMy rams horn is due to arrive today! I'm also excited to see the clip point variation, I'll be on board for one of those!
Obviously this is a niche, but I'd like to see gold G10 and Shadetree micartas...
Check out p.42 of this thread, some gold burlap micarta on there
I'll second the suggestion for jigged or saw-cut bone! The clip looks nice but I feel like would need more change than that to draw me in. I would at least need all new handle/cover material options too. I might have listed my suggestions before but I will list them again: Not Palo Santos Wood, G-10, Micarta, Jigged(or Sawcut) Bone, & Silver Twill(or other non-standard) CF.
Seems to be par for what people are reporting, BTE thicknesses in the .020"-.025" range. Doesn't surprise me for Lionsteel, I had a TRE that was very thick behind the edge from the factory. Although. .020" isn't terrible, but M390 can certainly handle thinner. With Diamonds, it is not any more difficult to reprofile than GEC's 1095 on natural stones. And that makes sense - an upgrade in steel deserves an upgrade in sharpening components.
