Lion Steel "Roundhead" Euro-Barlow

Mike, if this run works out, and is anywhere near the ideas posted thus far in the possibilities and potential, you may have a best collaboration award and Blade good sir. At least imo.

You do know a sheepsfoot, wharncliffe, and clip will need to be produced as well asap.

Stop it! I'm sitting here like:

More ideas popping in my head about aftermarket possibilities...
What about a shadow Barlow, no bolster.
Or a Barlow with tip bolsters on g10 liners?

Abalone shadow with black and blue g10 liners, sign me up.

I totally had missed this thread and glad I finally noticed it. I had to cancel a custom hybrid/traditional due to poor communication issues after waiting 6 months after the deal was made. So as I was looking around for a "replacement" I was looking at the Lion Steel Opera...and really just happened to look at Mikes reserve section.
This euro barlow will certainly look good and has some very nice materials use.
I have to support a great dealer and one taking a reasonable risk business wise.
so I went Stag!

also as a Lefty...dual pulls and pinchable, made this an easy call. Hoping for a clip model someday.

I'm hoping for a copperhead :D

What I am really hoping comes from this is regular production runs of traditional patterns.I also think it is a great step forward to the old school patterns as it adapts and integrates old and new.

If the 67 mustang would have never been changed people would not hold a high regard for the 67 mustang as all would have the same model.

As knives develop and change the classic will be held in an even higher regard imo all while bringing in future users and collectors.

In short I like having the option and think it is great for the hobby.

I agree completely with Brett's comments. Nice to have options.

I know I have not been an active poster recently however, I check in almost every day.

Buzzbait-Ed Fowler! A name not seen enough around here, imho. They don't come much more old, crusty, and traditional than him. Funny too. Doesn't/didn't he even raise the sheep whose horn he used? I recall reading that in an old copy of "Blade" quite awhile ago. And I agree, that's a big part of what got me looking at rams horn. That and some Dozier's and old CSC knives. Good call.
Thanks, Neal

Kind of amusing & ironic that for this 'Euro Barlow' the majority of us nay sayers are Europeans...:D:eek::D

I'll send you one when you change your mind my friend.:D

In all seriousness, Im ok being among the few who likes it for what it is and sees the potential in it. I also think I am just ready for something new to try. I have become bored with the same ole same from GEC and the difficulty in actually acquiring one at a fair price. As a user it is hard to justify buying a knife that I know will go up in value the second the run is over and sold out. If GEC had made this as an SFO I can only assume it would be $250 starting out. This is all just my opinion though.

I think a little competition is healthy.

I actually called it that because I had made enough money shorting the euro to pay for the run.... (just kidding)

I think I have made it clear before that with so many people having agenda's, unique tastes, vendor loyalties, etc.; I do not get too hung up on the vocal minorities. It would be great if we all agreed, but then the makers would just be selling one knife. I put my money up, I outline what I want, and I live with the popularity once folks have them in-hand. If it is a boom, great. If it is a bust, I don't make it again. That's all I know to do.
