LIONSTEEL CAPLIFTER BARLOW

How are the springs on these? I haven't owned any of the more recent run Lionsteel Barlows, but I had a Roundhead and a Shuffler from the first two runs and wished they'd had heavier springs.
The spring on the main on mine is lighter than the caplifter. I’d call it a 4 closed to half stop, a 5 half stop to open, and a six on the caplifter.

Excellent pics, I'm a big fan of the CK Warhorse and Mike's Beerlow looks great , I'm not getting a Beerlow because I stopped buying bottles, enjoy lifting those caps

Decided to post again with a lionsteel Dom I recently got off the exchange and a couple of the Viper BF 20 all in horn. The Viper has been a very nice surprise, I’m still very impressed with their work. The Dom is pretty striking but I think that’s partially due to the pinkish polishing compound that’s still on it. Very nice slipjoints out of Italy.

Very nice knives Sir! Mike has done some great work with the Maniago cutlery firms. I think it is great that he has been able to contract through several different cutlery companies there to produce a variety of similar, yet different takes on these modern traditionals. And you have some spectacular examples of their ramshorn!

ETA: BDubbs BDubbs , meant to qoute your post above, can't figure out how to add it in now. Thanks for showing your knives.

Are these going to be available on the Collector knives site or are they just for those who preordered?

Does it seem possible to swap the blade configuration? I want to get one, but I’m wondering if I can put the cap lifter in front of the blade?

Joe
I don't think anyone answered this-- yes the backsprings and blades are the same stock thickness, and both also have nail nicks on each side, so it would be easy to flip the configuration and bring the caplifter to the front. However be aware that the way the roundhead blade sits, its nail nick is not accessible from the same side as the caplifter. So if you reverse the order you will actually have to use the pile side to access your primary blade. If you are a lefty or if you drink more than you cut that might be just fine, but I opted not to swap the order for that reason :) Here is a photo of a stock Beerlow from the back so you can see what I mean, it's not like GEC versions where both nicks are accessible from one side.

If you did a blade swap as I did for the Dom, you actually could get away with reversing the stack order and bringing the caplifter to the front. The nick on the Dom blade is partially blocked by the caplifter but still usable from the same side. The only other comment I would make if you're considering swapping blades and/or stack order, be aware that you will have to deal with the pre-tension on the backsprings. It's not just a job for a torx bit. You could probably get away with some vise-grips or c-clamps but I ended up making a jig with a toggle clamp just to do this.

Oh no...
Is M390 brittle material?
I remember there was some discussion as to wether the screwdriver/caplifter blade was m390 or not but I don’t remember the consensus.
Comparing it to a Victorinox screwdriver though, the tip was pretty thin. I’ll file it flat and it’ll be good. It did surprise me though…
