Location info sent! 1st Connecticut Wilderness Skills Gathering, April 26-27, 2008!

My woman keeps saying I can't go....so I'm going. :D I hope my arm is better by then, it should be ok.

gunknifenut, looking forward to seeing you there! Make sure you've emailed us telling us what days, etc. you'll be there!

I talked my friend into going..so look for 2 coming from central MA..I think that we are driving up on SAT, and leaving early on SUN. Gene

Sigh, I am so bummed I wont be able to make this.... already have plans to head down to PA that weekend :(((

That means I'll make a special effort to get there....just kidding, will be driving the 24hrs of Lemans it looks like to attend! If you've ever driven I95 in CT on a Friday you know what I'm talking about!

1Tracker,

I'd recommend hopping on Rt 9 North (I think it's Exit 69 off I-95 westbound), to 691, to 84 West coming from where you'll be. More direct, and much better ride overall!

I'd really like to show up, and bring along a friend, if it's not too late! (I'd understand if it is; really wishing I got to this sooner! what was that about keeping clear Priorities?? shelter, water, fire, wilderness meet, food..??)

If so, I'd plan to pop in on Saturday, and hopefully talk'er into staying the night (need to be back by Sunday, early afternoon, unfortunately.. darn..!)

email inbound

Thanks Brian, specific directions like that are a God send to me at this point. Just look for the guy with the bags under his eyes, that'll be me!

1Tracker,

Actually, from Rt 9, you'll take I-91 South (I think exit 22 or 23 off Rt 9), which just brings you to 691, only a few exits down (it seems counterintuitive but look at the map and you'll see why). Then 691 dumps you right onto 84 West. So, from where you'll be, it'll be about 20-25 minutes down 95, about 30 minutes on 9, 5 minutes on 91S, 10 minutes on 691W, and about 20 mins on 84 before you hop off into the back roads.

Brian, How the roster looking in terms of people bringing kids along? I'm trying to decide whether it's a good idea or not to bring mine along.

Marcelo,

There are going to be a few children there of varying ages, so bring yours along!

~B.

More news. RAT Cutlery is sending some blades for everyone to play with, and we'll be awarding them as prizes at the Gathering.:thumbup::thumbup:
