Lock fail pics (graphic)

"Internal" stitches? I've never heard of such a thing. Can you tell us what that is?
It was so deep she had to spread it open and basically pull tha tissue and fatty tissue back together before pulling the top of the wound closed to stop the bleeding. The internal ones dissolve and aren’t removed.

Damn.... good warning for all of us. Knives are tools and bad things can happen if you aren't diligent with their use.

Glad you weren't hurt worse.

Yes I was just glad it wasn’t something beyond tissue superficial requiring surgical or ligament and tendon. Was lucky cause it closed with authority.
And yes I have much much better folders it was just a cheap disposable knife for work, think ill go back to my triage lol.

My partner is a 32 yr experienced medic and we talked about dealing with it our selves but was probably best that we went in.

is just a flesh wound

glad it wasnt anything more serious - and a good warning to us all.
my brother had a recent mishap with a table saw - thats some spooky stuff

A) Ouch!!! I know just what that feels like! Heal up!

B) Was it a true lock failure, or could there have been some crud or something in the lock preventing full engagement? You mentioned "squishy lock feeling" so I'm wondering if that was the lock actually failing, or if it was failing to fully engage. Is the failure repeatable? *

*Disclaimer- I don't have a SOG, have no interest in purchasing a SOG, and am not invested in any way other an academic curiosity in the answer, so this is not an invite to start any fanboy defensive nonsense.

I've had good luck using super glue on myself and others, the medic in my unit was the first person to tell me to use super glue and I was hesitant. I've been using it for years now with perfect success.

You're right. It's a great trick.

Once on vacation, my wife got a cut on her hand, and was indignant when i pulled superglue out of the first aid kit in my car. I asked if she trusts me, and when she agreed that she does, I used super glue. About 5 minutes later we were on our way to whatever activity it was we were doing and she was in shock at how well it works. I keep the stuff in every first aid kit ever since then, she does too!

Was total and complete lock failure. No debris or other possible problems for the occurrence. I liked it due to light weight locking and relatively disposable expense wise. Yes easily repeatable but also does still lock just not with any strength. Wasn’t totally the knife fault was using not the way intended but still axis or compression wouldn’t have failed. Live and learn right? I guess I was still relatively lucky

I super glued a nasty cut on my ex girlfriend after she put her hand through my apartment window. Super glued my wife once after she cut herself with a Kershaw in the car on the way to go camping lol I've super glued myself countless times too :D

With so many ways to carry a smaller fixed blade, I urge you to consider at least looking into it..

people always ask me why I prefer a small fixed blade edc. sorry about the painful lesson.

This. Or I also may be crazy but I feel safer with a good otf vs. other manual folders, depending on a few things. Just seems to me if the lock did break on an otf you either dont get the blade out or that fingers are not in the way if it failed while cutting.

Just random thoughts.
