I watch the show everytime it's on. It's one of my favorites and one of the very few shows that I watch religiously.
Talked to Bear a few times though it was well before he got so famous, he's a good guy as far as I can tell.
Yea, like Diz said, if the show were "safe and smart", it wouldn't be on the air anymore. I found a new show called "The wild within" that knocked Bear down to the number 3 spot as far as my favorites go.
I'm not going to be taking anything I see on the show as sound survival advice but there is alot of good intermingled with the dumb.
As for the knife, I plan on getting one. I had an LMF and it was a great blade. Wish they would offer them in plain edge but oh well. I also like the design of the "T" handle on the firesteel, looks like a good idea as does the design of the sharpening system.
The breakage issue.....It can happen to any company, it's the way it's reacted to that's the true test and as far as I know, they haven't given anyone any trouble with warranty claims and the problem is being fixed.
Gerber was always one of my favorite companies back in the day and their quality seems to be rivaling that of the 80's and early 90's as of late with the new products I've gotten to handle.
