Looking for a good bush knife

beckers are sharpened pry bars, not knives
They're very versatile pry bars!

There is no such thing as a "good" bush knife for under a hundred bucks... I wouldn't even begin to consider going into the woods for a day with the crap they sell for under a hundred... if you want "good", you will have to go as high as two hundred... if you want great you are going to close to three hundred or more!!

Frank

Under $200? So BHK, most of BRKT, ESEE, TOPS, KA-BAR, Mora, Helle, Condor, most of fallkniven, OKC, Enzo, and budget customs are all crap?

Not to mention Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard...

Pay no heed to that post. He clearly knows nothing, because as we all know there are many great knives for under $200. (There is no problem with not knowing. The problem is acting like you know everything when you don't.)

(And I'm not saying that we all don't do that at times...)

Even though SBK is a bit Becker obsessive and I secretly suspect him to be behind the skyrocketing prices of the BK9 online(his frequent endorsing causing everyone to buy up all bk9's shooting up prices on remaining stock), Becker's are wonderful knives for the price and their are countless people who would trust their lives to such blades and would have nothing to worry about.

I'll take that as a compliment. :)

+1 more for Condor. That's what I plan on buying in the future to pair with my Mora. Its reasonably priced and is a bit more substantial. Overall, I still say that its worth it to buy a hatchet rather than try and find some indestructible knife that you can baton through a semi truck.

Sweet - I've cleaned a bunch of fish and game and built a bunch of stuff and made quite a surprising number of fires and so forth all w/ a sharpened pry bar. Wait til I get a knife - I'll be unstoppable! Muahahahaha!

I kinda liked the pry bar statement it was more of a compliment to Becker seeing as how a pry bar is strong as s#%t .... As of now I own a izula and a ontario RD7 .... The izula is great for small (most) tasks but the rd7 is a freaking tank so I was looking for something to split the difference.

Not trying to start an argument at all... I stated my belief... I have hundreds of knives, and the most inexpensive knife that fits the bill for what he was asking I would say is the Tops BOB for about $150.00

Everything else on the market that costs less I have checked out and am of complete belief that they are JUNK!! If you are going into the woods you never know if something is going to happen that will keep you longer than expected... if you can't count on your knife to save your life it isn't worth two cents never mind a hundred bucks... if you need to depend on it then save up and purchase something that can be depended upon is all I am saying!!

Read the reviews... they will tell you that those under a hundred are trash waiting to hurt you once they break... and they will!!

Read the reviews? Seriously? Read the Becker sub-forum. Ask anyone that owns one of their knives. (Real use and experience speaks much louder than a biased "I don't like it" review IMO.) People have actually survived and lived with Beckers/ESEEs/Swamp Rats/Scrapyards/heck even Moras!

I would bet my life that I could survive for a month with only what's in my BK9 sheath. If you can't, it might be time to learn how to survive without your fancy $300 knife. Would you really beat a $300 knife into a block of hard maple? Swing it with all of your strength against a tree?

I advise you to simply buy a Becker or ESEE of your choosing. Then, you will either be a convert, or you can actually have some arguing rights about what was wrong with it.

I also like the enzo trapper, lovely knife and really affordable. Not sure if the fallkniven f1 fits your budget due to the exchange rate bug that too is well known for being excellent!

I think the noob guy might be trolling.. ;)
