What am I missing? Every knife you posted is made in China. The problem is most are made in China, I do not trust anything from China, so even the middle of the road brand can have blades that are not heat treated well.
The amount I am willing to pay, I have no choice, I have to fix most of them to make them good. Mostly the line lock are not fully engaged, only half way. A lot of them have to loosen the pivot screw for the blade to swing freely, I have to thin out the G10 part a little to free the blade up. It's so common. What am I missing? Every knife you posted is made in China.
Probably because most people don’t want the blade to drop on their thumb when the liner or frame lock is disengaged. It's so common.
Not following what you said. My modification definitely make the knife safer.Probably because most people don’t want the blade to drop on their thumb when the liner or frame lock is disengaged.
Don't try to change meProbably because most people don’t want the blade to drop on their thumb when the liner or frame lock is disengaged.
I bought it already, it'll arrive tomorrow. i can't wait. I bought it for $70, then Amazon raised the price a lot a day after I bought it!!!If you are interested in the Steel Will Warbot that you have pictured in the original post let me know. I can get it very close to $80. Green handle part serrated and black handle non-serrated are currently in stock.
Here are the example I said I had to fix on a lot of knives.Probably because most people don’t want the blade to drop on their thumb when the liner or frame lock is disengaged.
Liner locks tend to break in with use, I don’t see any need to speed up the process. If you’re that concerned about a lock failing, grab a fixed blade.
It's not about break in, the line is NOT bent enough. It's so easy to test, you can try to push the line more under the blade, if it is not bent enough, it actually will bounce back. You need to open it, put the liner on a vise, bend it carefully a little at a time, try and see, repeat again if needed. It just takes time and care.Liner locks tend to break in with use, I don’t see any need to speed up the process. If you’re that concerned about a lock failing, grab a fixed blade.
Instead of buying seven or eight $30 knives, buy one with better materials and a stronger lock. Problem solved.I did at least 7 or 8 knives like this already.
I don't think more expensive is better, that's the problem. I have knives up to $70 so far like Kizer, Off-Grid, they both need to be fixed. You cannot use price as indication of quality. I can make a cheaper knife good and reliable.Instead of buying seven or eight $30 knives, buy one with better materials and a stronger lock. Problem solved.
I don't exchange, I treat my knives really carefully. These are NOT expensive items even if it's over $400. It never even cross my mind exchanging. I would NEVER buy a used knife!!! Like I NEVER buy a used gun. In fact, I don't buy used car since I can afford to buy new cars long long time ago.Remind me not to buy a knife on the exchange from this gentleman.
It depends on the definition of "expensive."I notice people here tends to go for very expensive knives after reading a few threads.
Like over $300. No reasonable knife worth that kind of money other than the name, the designer and all that.It depends on the definition of "expensive."
Nothing wrong with what you said. But on this forum, $300 is regarded by many as a mid range price, or maybe just slightly above the mid range.Like over $300. No reasonable knife worth that kind of money other than the name, the designer and all that.
Hell, it's very hard press for me to believe any knife can worth more than $150 just judging by the quality.
