Looking to replace me Emersons. Strider? ZT?

Damn lol so the Fluoro isnt that great or not as good as nano oil? I can always buy the Nano, but now Im stuck with Fluoro grease lol
Oh the grease is great. I'm sure it will perform very nicely, but when you run out you should try some of the Nano oil. Its mostly personal preference on oil or grease tho

Is there any way to tell if the ZT I bought is a fake? I doubt it, but you never know... I was just sitting here reading online and its amazing how CLOSE the fakes are from china.. Even hinderer and CRKs are stupidly close to the real deals. I bet 99% wouldnt be able to tell.

Well if its a blem it will have the serial number of XXXX instead of numbers, from the pics it sure didn't look like a fake. I haven't seen any ZT fakes so far either. I've taken my zt550 apart a few times but I don't remember any other specific markings anywhere. Just a great knife, I didn't care for the original scale and replaced it with one from monkey edge. The frag texture is grippy without being too rough and just doesn't get slick even with the ti side. I've skinned a couple of rabbits with it, cut dozens of hay bales and never had any issue at all. Takes a little getting used to flicking open with your thumb make sure you don't put pressure on the lock bar when you do.

Strider or CRK. I keep trying to find other knives to replace these, but always come back. Hard to beat the SMF and Zaan.

Well, it should have a skeletonized liner. Because it has been acid etched and stone washed all the markings on the blade will probably be gone. Did you receive it yet? I'm 99.99% sure its real from the eBay listing, but some better pictures will help.

I did get it today. LOVE IT.

One thing I hate is that the jimping ( Im sure its the wrong word AND mispelled haha ) is NOT sharp for the lock mech. ITs kinda slippery and hard to get a good bite when closing the blade.

Spyder: which pictures are you wanting to see? I can take whatever.

Just an open picture of the scale side and lock side. It would be easy to tell  And yeah, the 0550 is my favorite knife :D

Is there any way to make the lock bar "grip" any grippyer?

Also, what about disassmebly? Pretty straight forward?

You could sharpen the jimping with a dremel but that's pretty much it. Disassembly is very easy, the scale screws are 10T, the pivot screw is an 8T, the over travel stop and the pocket clip screws are a 6T. It will have very tight tolerances so when you take the scale off, you might have a hard time taking the liner off, but don't worry, that's normal lol

Okay,
I'll pull her apart.. Stand by.

edited. Avtually Im going to wait until tomorrow so I can get some PCB Etchant and do the blackwash too. So tomorrow mid-day or so, I'll have images.

Hey Spyder, I was reading online all day about the knife, its mods etc. This is what Im wondering.. Someone said about lock play. So I tested mine. If I open it and then grab the spine of the blade and the frame I can feel some slight wiggle up and down on the blade. Now if I push the frame lock over ( tighter ) the play goes away. I mean its VERY little play, is this considered normal?

Normal enough.
If it doesn't close on your hand from steady spine pressure applied by hand, the lock is fine.
If it bugs you down the road, just use your thumbs to press the lock-bar over further to increase spring tension (bend it when the knife is disassembled, that is).

Also, make sure when closing the knife that you get the lock-bar out of the blade path entirely before closing it.
I've seen where people scrape the lock-face when closing by pressing on the spine of the knife as they close it, basically making premature lock wear.

If the lock-up is at 50% like the pictures seemed to show, it has plenty of life in it. :)

Couldn't have said it better

So here is the side with the scale off

Here is the knife after the etching and Oxi-Clean Ti treatment.

Look what I found after etching.. It revealed a serial. I thought Blems had XXXX where the serials were?

One thing I noticed is that the Ti still seems to be changing colors. I liked the blueish redish colors I seen.. But mine is more morochrome. Any idea on how to change it more? I also stone washed the Ti for a little bit too. I dont know if that is allowed or not. Im talking maybe 3-5 mins max?

Should I oil the blade any? Im talking about the actual blade, not the washer/pivot area. I use my knife for all kinds of tasks, so I dont want to use something that can harm me. Maybe mineral oil?
