Loveless Style Drop Point Hunters with Black Liners and Olive Canvas Micarta Handles

Good Luck Gilbert! I sincerely hope you get feeling better as well. You make a helluva nice knife. I hope some of these people on this forum giving you a hard time feel like ass. Some people just need to learn some understanding and relize shit happens even to the best of us once in a while. You just take it easy Gil and get recooperated before you work yourself even deeper. These guys can wait for their knives until your better.

Gilbert, i hope you get better healthwise.

In regards to getting the knives done and shipped out, If i may make a suggestion, perhaps a local knifemaker in your area could assist you with the remaining orders? it might take some stress off you and your health. Or if it looks like your going to be sidelined (healthwise) for a while, maybe figure out who sent money in and refund them. Just to keep the peace and to allow yourself to heal up without stressing.

I see both sides poiints of view, just thought a few suggestions might help everyone.

just my 2 cents. Take care.

Another possibility would be to have someone else help out with the business side of things while you concentrate on getting the knives done. Perhaps having someone hold the knives while waiting for the payments, and hold the payments while waiting for the knives, might go a ways towards restoring people's confidence in you.

No matter how you handle things, I hope everything works out well in the end.

Just recieved a response from Gilbert last night. Apperently the banner on his web site did not pertain to all outstanding knife orders , just the really old ones.

He assured me that he was still working on outstanding orders.

I guess that from the posts that people are starting to get thier knives is a good sign.

The fact that he is responding to email in a timely manner is also a good sign.

From all that I have read it is worth the wait.

Also to quote an earlier post How long do you wait for a Randall Knife.

While it is true Randall only requires a $50 deposit not 50% of the knife cost. Maybe this is something that Gilbert will hopefully re-think in the near future

I did recently receive some email from Mr. Norfleet indicating that he had shipped a knife to me.

This is the second time I've received a message of this nature. The first time there was a tracking number provided, but that number was never scanned anywhere in the USPS system. It was generated, but apparently never used.

No number has been provided for this recent indication of shipment, and I haven't been able to check my mailbox so I don't know if it's arrived yet or not.

I will update as soon as I'm able to.

Regards,

-C.

He's still selling other items on other forums FWIW.

Selling finished product or taking orders/deposits? Either way that's kinda messed up.

As for me, I don't think I'll be taking orders anytime soon. At least, not taking deposits. Seems way too easy to have something go wrong and make an ass of yourself... even if it's not the maker's fault, people are going to be pretty angry.

I see that on his website he has a chute knife for sale. I just feel a little disappointed as I had ordered a chute knife last summer and have been given multiple dates it would be completed and they have all passed.

I would hope to be hearing from Mr. Norfleet shortly to tell me that it is ready for shipping.

I just find it hard to swallow selling new knives, when you still backlogged on orders.

I have emailed him questioning this.

I hope to hear back from him soon.

Just received a response from Gilbert, stating mine knife was in the same batch and is workiing on getting it finished.

Lets wait and see. I hope Gilbert is finally getting back on track as far as the quality is concerned I have only read good things.

I am pleased to report that I finally received my knife from Mr. Norfleet.

I can't say that I'm exactly happy with the way this whole thing played out, but the knife is excellent. The blade is hollow ground very nicely to a good thick spine and the overall fit and finish is very good. Too bad the deal hit so many bumps on the way to completion.

I wish Mr. Norfleet all the best and and hope he continues to produce more nice blades like this one, but must say that I will have to think twice before placing another order with him.

Regards,

-C.
