If LT wants to go hunting and make and sell a video of it, I really don't care. Why the original poster would start a thread about it, giving the impression that the he thinks LT is some kind of super being is beyond me. There are hundreds of hunters that help govenments cull animals that have become problems. Now, if LT took on these animals with only his bare hands and a CS knife, that would be something to see.

Bladeforums has knife knuts and hunters. We should wonder why when Lynn Thompson sells knives and goes hunting that so few are impressed. It's unfortunate, but once it becomes a matter of choosing sides, people don't bother considering the other side's viewpoint any more.

Maybe your own over the top defense reminds people about what they don't like in LT -- which is why you were accused of being LT at one time. You are definitely not the best kind of defender he might have.

Come on now. Let's be honest here. My post was in regards to the personal attacks on LT. No one makes such attacks on any other knife maker or manufacturer other than LT. If one does not like his product or his business acumen, then so be it.

It is when the attacks become personal that things get over the top, not my pointing out said attacks.

Um ... you don't read anything on the knife forums but threads about LT, do you....

There are several people in the industry who cultivate similar images and provoke similar responses. It's not common, but Lynn Thompson is not the only one.
 
I just can't believe how quickly and furiously a thread about Lynn Thompson can be attacked.
If you guys Hate Lynn Thompson so much... thats just fine. Keep it to yourselves or at least try to be nice about it. (Like Sal says, Shiny Footprints!)
If someone started a thread about Sal, and I, or someone else, came on that thread and started commenting on his personal appearance or sexual preference and making personal jokes... they would be reprimanded for it immediately!
On another thread, I was given a verbal warning, marks against me and threatened to be kicked off the forum because of a so called "Personal Attack" that involved two words and an emoticon.

I wasn't even commenting on Sal himself... I was commenting on the fact that someone else said that Sal said something to him in a personal email about the subject. After which, Sal himself came on said thread and said that I was Correct.
I was immediately persecuted and warned that any further such personal attacks would get me banned. Thats Ridiculous.
Yet, here, not only are personal attacks NOT reprimanded, they are encouraged and even joined in on by the moderators.
Seems to me that a lot that goes on around here has to do with Who's your buddy, or How many posts you have under your belt.
I would just like to see a little fair treatment around here.
Personally... I am Unimpressed.
 
Personally I think the DVD would be pure gold ! ! !

I take LT with a shaker of salt, but there have been plenty of good evenings spend with brews & buddies watching the Proof videos.

Even non-knife people get a kick outta the videos and LT

Hell I even buy some CS stuff and I'm a HUGE Spyderco Fan.

LT himself is one of the people making attacks like that. He did it on his own company webpage. It's all in the game.

I know many ranchers in places like Australia are thrilled to have feral donkeys and kangaroos removed from their land. They are a pest and it is perfectly legal to do so. I know that in many cases on his African hunts- most of the meat was donated to local villages who were very appreciative of the gesture.

LT spends a lot of money helping to keep hunting, shooting, and martial arts economies running, more than most of you will ever see. He loves his passions greatly and does a lot to keep them strong. While other knife makers and manufacturers are out playing golf on weekends, he is shooting, hunting, training, and knife fighting.

I've seen dozens of "big game hunting" videos that all have rather graphic footage and titles. There is an entire subculture of people who like those videos and that type of hunting. You guys don't? Fine. You don't like LT? again, fine. But how about taking the discourse a little higher than small penis and fat jokes. Or is that the best you guys can do?

I wonder how many of you have either met or spoken to LT. If you did, and there are several posts here of folks who have, you might be surprised to find him a very friendly guy who is passionate about his life and what he does.

But, I guess it is just easier to make fun of him, huh?

Why do I get the feeling that the pro CS crowd cannot handle any abuse..Remember LT has no problem berating other knife makers and humiliating them and calling them names on his own company website..so what goes around comes around. You sow bad seeds you reap a bad harvest. Suck it up..:thumbdn:

and for the record...when I saw that website I took all the CS knives I still had in my collection and threw them in the trash..I would not even sell them knowing that LT is responsible for bringing a new low to the Knife Industry. He deserves all the disrespect he gets..

There is a difference between being rude to a fundamentally nice human being that brings a great deal to our community table and questioning the motives of man who makes his living filming himself hacking away at sides of beef and cardboard cutouts wearing leather jackets.

Tomahawk23, this forum, TGB&U, doesn't have the same rules as the General Knife Discussion forum. If you had posted that message here you would not have gotten an infraction for it.

Oh, read more and post less.... I see....... so how can us "noobs" ever hope to amass thousands of posts? Obviously only people with thousands of posts know anything about knives. And you must spend ungodly hours in front of your computer to amass the precious post count, to increase your knife knowledge. Not actually using them in real life, but reading and posting about them, hour after hour and day after day patiently building up the precious post count until the cyber-ephinany happens, and you metamorpasize from a troll into a ..... guy who sits in front of his computer way more than he should. . I personally have learned more about knives by using them in real life then reading and posting about them. But hey, maybe some others learn by osmosis.

Isn't the Fact that he Hunts, Designs Knives and Studies Martial Arts as well as Runs his own Company make him just the kind of Guy that most of you guys would normally Idolize?
Has he somehow Personally Wronged you guy in some way?
Is the Fact that his Company produces Quality products at Affordable prices some sort of crime against humanity (or maybe just the knife world?)

You are right, I am so freaking jealous of the man. Afterall, he is full of shit, makes lots of money off others' designs, and kills hundreds of animals in 30 days so that he can tell all he has grown a pair of balls that G-d forget to supply him with at birth.

1) If you think spending time on Bladeforums isn't worth it, don't.

It's none of your business how much time others spend here, and since you are not a personal real-world acquaintance of mine, for instance, you have no standing to assess what I know or don't know about using knives, and how I learned it.

Loudly proclaiming an ignorant opinion doesn't make it valid.

2) You're the one bringing up the idea that a high post count has any special meaning, and you brought it up only to dismiss it. That's precariously close to trolling in itself, but on this forum, it's a way we encourage you to let us know how lacking your command of logic is.

I am first of all reporting this post because it is insulting and hopefully you will get an infraction for what you wrote..

Second of all ...I did not say read more and post less FOREVER. Just while your a new member here so you learn the Etiquitte of this forum and this board in particular.

Insinuating that I do not have a life is rude and childish. I am a senior member of this board. I have friends here that are some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure to meet and call friends. I meet with these friends in different cities several times a year. I have two degrees, I own my own business, a house, two dogs, two cats, a wife of 21 years, three great kids, and I have a life.

you sir have a lot to learn...
