Guess it’s time to admit never speaking with LT. I have however spoken with many like him.
Despite spending or supporting whatever economies, Lynn Thompson is directing his distribution company to do more in assuring the loss of your knife owning and carrying rights than any others I am aware of due to the product assortment from which he is profiting.

No, I don’t think I will keep it to myself. Thanks for the boost. I for one think it’s time not to hate but to start pointing out at every opportunity that, Lynn Thomson, his buyers, and overseas agents of his distributorship need to start making better product choices.

What goes on around here is what goes on everywhere however the opportunity to present directly opposed opinions is a huge amount of fair treatment.

Well see, a “noob” starting out as a troll (BTW most “noob’s” do not) cannot ever amass thousands of posts. This is because, unless maybe they are a physicist, they are allowed to continue trolling and entertaining others for a while...then they walk the plank!

Just to be clear. Looking at the marketing and publicity methods of Lynn Thompson and the product offerings from Cold Steel my opinion is that Lynn Thompson is the PT Barnum of con artists and hucksters in the cutlery distribution business.

I think it says a lot that you can spell the name of the owner of Cold Steal, but not the owner of Spyderco. :rolleyes:

Maybe that because I don't care enough to check for spelling... It's just easier than typing Washed up, Wilfred Brimley looking, Mr. Rodgers sweater wearing, Geritol chugging old man. (which is what I normally call him.)

For the record, I am on BF almost daily and read a lot of all sorts of things. I usually comment on threads about LT and CS. As said ad nauseum- I am a friend and have a relationship with LT and CS and don't usually let things like this just go...

Show me one, just one instance where LT made any reference to Sal Glesser's sexual preferences. Show me one instance where he said that Les DeAsis was so fat that he could not fit into an airline seat.

How about where he called Mick Striker a liar... oh... wait... he did that...CUZ HE IS!

While folks here may not like LT or his methods, he believes what he says and backs it up. But the discourse here sinks down into personal attacks and that's all ok- as long as it is LT being attacked. I would just like to see a little consistency.

So please, show me. And while you're at it, show me where forum members have made similar attacks on other knife manufacturers and not been reprimanded for it. Not an attack on product. Not an attack on the company's biz practices. An insulting and personal attack on the makers and CEOs based on either appearance, penis size, or sexual preference. If it is there, then I will acknowledge your point.

Dude- you are so late to that party...
Ask 3G- I am a shill and all the haters here think that I am full of crap. If you read the threads listed, you might see that I already acknowledged that I am a friend of LT and CS and take a bit of pride in defending them from the uninformed and/or irrational haters.
 
The original post and the subsequent responses from the CS shills only make sense in the context of the old advertising saw 'there is no such thing as bad publicity'. If sales at CS are this weak perhaps it's a good time to buy some of their knifes to sell to hungry mall-ninjas at a ridiculous markup after CS transforms itself into a video training outfit.

Most of us "haters" have at least given some idea why we dislike the guy. He is a braggart, takes potshots at other makers, uses designs that are not original, makes claims that are hard to believe and flat out lacks the level of integrity necessary for me to support him.

You on the other hand defend him with emoticons??

I bet Lynn plans on hiring you as Cold Steals new Corporate spokesman!!:p

One of the most wonderful things about this forum is it provides an opportunity for people to show their character -- and some people take full advantage of that opportunity.

Currently Dark Ops is using advertising even more slanted toward the mall ninja than Cold Steel, and the response they're getting is even more derision than Cold Steel gets. It's much more one-sided, too; there are very few people who are pro-Dark Ops. The owner has not chosen to try to create a cult of personality about himself in his advertising, so the ridicule focuses on the knives more than on him personally. (Search for Dork Ops; you'll get far more hits with that spelling.)

Others have chosen to try to create a cult of personality about themselves in their advertising, notably Mad Dog McClung and more recently Mick Strider & Duane Dwyer. You can find info on how to use google to search Bladeforums in Sticky: Search Engine FAQs & Tips

You'll find much more vilification of swindlers on this forum (and in the Hall of Shame), of course, and rightly so. You'll also find people vilifying people they believed to be swindlers, and then it turned out they weren't. Things like that happen in the free marketplace of ideas. One reason we have this forum is to keep the ugly stuff out of the other forums here.
