No donut for me. Decaf coffeeeeee.
It's almost 1 AM here. I'm already bad enough at going to bed.
I called him first and talked to him about it. Then he gave me his email address to send some photos to him. Then he tried to sell me one of their presses. LOL
But I'll accept half of the blame - I should've thought about taking it slower, earlier than I did. I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that the manufacturer cheapened the metal to save money. The old eyelets are clearly of a higher quality.
Sorry... I've skipped about 2 pages... working too long compared to sleep time (forget the down time! That's entirely taken up by the pups!)
But just a thought...
Did you fellas ever consider warming up the eyelets before pounding on them?
Robby ya should edit out the last guys post ya quoted...the curse word.....thanks.....No, I've never had to worry about it before. Hopefully I have some 'good' eyelets coming.

David doesn't care for them and doesn't want them in his forum.
Like I said, if you can't get any of them to work I'll take a crack with what I've got here. I don't think I've ever had them split. My eyelets came in from Amazon. I thought that I was buying from someone other than holstersmith, but the bag had their name at the bottom. I tried two of them and they both split.
Hopefully Speckstore doesn't source their eyelets from holstersmith. I'm just a hobbyist so it's not the end of the world to me. I wonder what the people are going to do that make a living making sheaths and holsters? I'm not sure that people will want to pay good money for nasty looking split eyelets.
I tried oiling this time and oiled my press inserts and eyelets, and it made no difference. I'll try heating them up later and see if that helps.
It's more of a standard that I wish I could hold myself to. My day to day language use is anything but stellar, but I try to comport myself better when in another man's house.Oh, I didn't know that he was that sensitive. Corrected.
I think David's solution was to slot it out with the angle grinder, and knock out the middle.I need to go buy so.e of these m2 saw blades.
Have we come to a consensus about how to drill through these things?
I might have to let you handle it if the next batch is as bad as these. It's a shame when a company sells an inferior product and then blames you for it.Like I said, if you can't get any of them to work I'll take a crack with what I've got here. I don't think I've ever had them split.
Sounds good.Edited to add: I also have some HDPE sheath material and snaps here at the house, if all else fails I'll stitch one with that and some waxed linen and add a snap retaining strap.

Not really many, I bought a kit some while back in the hopes of using them to fix my boots, so it's a hodgepodge of different colors. Never could get them to work on the shoes I wear, but they've worked on a couple of sheaths. How many 'good' eyelets do you have? I'll buy a hundred or two of them from you if you have plenty.
