After a period of ponderment, I'll definitely be getting the M390 Contego. Great knife, steel, exclusivity, nice two-tone handle colors and the price is actually reasonable.

Agreed. Since it's apparently an unlimited run, i'll wait a little while to get one.

I fell in love with the Contego back during the summer but I never bought one because I felt like the blade was to thick for my liking. I am fond of thin slicy blades. Tried out carbon steel later and found out that I dislike the after taste carbon leaves on food. I love D2 but it is semistainless. Doesn't seem to leave much aftertaste.

On topic: I like the looks of this knife but not the price. Will keep an eye on it though.

I'm usually a Spyderco guy but I think I really am going to give this one a shot... m390 and blue/black g10. What's not to like? Oh and I really want to try out the axis lock.

That's one of the things I don't like about this version, is the blue and black. I wish they would have done a black and green instead.

This Contego M390 will be my 1st Benchmade.
So far i got the ZT 0350M390 & Manix2 XL S90V exclusives from KnifeWorks.

Its going to be random on these. Unless they come in distinctly almost all of one color or another.
It could get difficult as its somewhat subjective picking out percentages of color for an individual order.
The cool thing is they will all be somewhat unique.

You're gonna love the axis lock, haven't met anyone who don't like it. It'll make a believer out of you!:thumbup:

Is there any conformation that this blade will be non-coated?This pictures look like a coated blade to my eyes....

No need to coat a stainless blade. Benchmade only uses the clear Cerakote on their M4. Roger even stated that the blades will be offered in satin finish only.

Wow, this release looks great! The non-stainless property of M4 has been the thing holding me back from trying a Contego. Definitely "in" for the M390 :thumbup:

Looks nice but I paid just under $130 for my standard Contego using BR549 so to pay this much more to add blue to the handles and switch from M4 to M390 just isn't worth the up charge IMO.
