M4 Millie secondary value?

I would not be shocked at all to see $400+ on this one.
Time will tell.

This discussion is a bit premature since we haven't seen it yet.
But I don't think you will find one for less than $300.

I dissagree -- I don't think I'm the only person who plans to sell their unwanted one for the same price I paid (and yes, I already have a buyer).

Fun stuff to speculate about, but I would want to see the F&F and some intel on the quality and mechanics of the knife. If Hinderers, Ansos, Striders, etc are indicative of how nice the Ti locking slab and G10 pair up on a knife to reduce the weight and give a secure lockup, the ltd. Millie will be a fantastic knife.

We'll know the answer soon.

I'll take it! Oh, sorry, did not see you already had a buyer, lucky you.

Yep -- I just didn't want anyone to think I was posting just to bend our rules and find a buyer. I think selling pre-ordered knives without making a big profit happens around here more than some here seem to think. I've bought and sold a number of knives this way -- perhaps it is due to the camaraderie on some of the sub-forums. Who knows...

When i think about my m4 millie i think about the hinderer of spydercos, your fooling your self if you think i cant get damn near 500 for mine right away. I love my orange millie to death... i just dont know if i can bring my self to use 500 dollars when i could be using 120ish. In order to get me to use mine i should just flame the ti myself and swap the black scale for one off my orange millie and cut a box to bits and sharpen it. there now id only be able to get 300 :p

You're not the only person. Just tonight I decided I'd rather put this money to the sprint run S90V Para2, so I'll be looking to sell mine at cost + what I paid for shipping to Canada + shipping to buyer + any duty fees it might incur. That could be a very heft price tag, well above just cost, but I still won't make a cent off of it. I refuse to. Actually, with such an inflated price due to my Canadian situation, even if I wanted to I don't think I'd be able to jack the price up any more to make a profit, as I doubt anyone would dish out that much moolah.

Here's the total so far:

knife + shipping to Canada = $243.90

Add $15 for shipping (w/ insurance) to buyer and the total is at $258.90 for certain.

Possibly add approx. $29 more for duty (13% HST on $220) and $5 for handling (Canada Post brokerage fee) and the total shoots up to $293-ish.

For all intents and purposes that's potentially $300 ($265 if it slips by Customs), and I won't have made a single cent.:( I can't see it happening... but my lines are open, of course.

There is one thing I don't understand here.
If some decide they don't want a knife they pre-ordered, and don't want to flip it for a profit, wouldn't it be better to just try to get the deposit back, I am sure the dealer would be glad to work something out considering the waiting list they must have?

I will go out on a limb and predict that folks are going to have a hard time selling these after they've opened the box and handled the knife a little.

I'm hoping thats the case, JN. I want to like this one. I sold my all-Ti Military, because heavier and slicker did not seem to be a step in the right direction. Maybe that new steel insert and M4 will do the trick.

Welllllllll...if you don't...one of us needs some professional help. Might be me, who knows? ;) :D The one I've got here is almost the knife that my large Seb is...apples-to-oranges, I know, but it is easily as good a knife as the Ti ATR, which was supposed to be the best Spyderco ever turned out, near-custom.

After seeing JNewell's youtube post I could see these getting snapped up at $300-$350 cor NIB by the time Xmas gets here.

:)

Yep - that's why I had mine direct-shipped to the new buyer.
I've already committed to the Para2 instead.

Smart, truly. :) And the Para2 is definitely not a bad choice. It might be better for many purposes, actually. I haven't said this in a while, so I'll repeat it now. Most knife buyers under the age of 40 have NO idea how truly lucky we are now. Compared to what was "best" in the 60s, 70s, 80s, even the early 90s, the steel makers and knife companies have taken us way up into the stratosphere.

And that's EXACTLY why I decided to flip all the unused "collectables" I had and narrow my list down to a dozen current and contemporary knives. Phewy on the old stuff. Today is a great age to be a blade enthusiast! I'll likely grow my list but as new stuff comes out, the old stuff that I don't use will be sold.
