M4 Millie secondary value?

Not much of a markup. Must have been someone who could no longer afford it after getting on the list.

I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I am a little disappointed by the way that lockbar insert is executed, compared to the Lionsteel, for example.

Lorenzo - you can always sell the Millie if this bothers you.

I guess we know why bbq boy started a thread about the resale value of the M4 Ti.

Hardly any profiteering there, nothing to criticize IMO. On eBay, I would *guess* that $300 is a cinch and $350 wouldn't surprise me. Lots of hype and demand for a superior knife, and very limited supply.

Who said anything about profiteering or criticizing anyone? I just pointed out what I thought was the reason He was making inquiries as to resale value is all.

One just sold on the JD forum for $250,,,

edit: apparently it was listed on here aswell,,,
That was me. I only marked it up to $250 to cover the PayPal fees and shipping. I think I made about $5 on it. I didn't care to make any money on it and the reason I sold it is because I am spoiled by other folders such as my CRK's. I need to recover.I was excited about this folder but got put off by all of the delays.

So :D anyone who gives the new design a demerit for appearances should give some plus points for this one, which is a lot cleaner than the (ahem) current standard solution to over-travel. ;)

Indeed, that deserves mega bonus points.

Didn't mean for that to sound like I was bashing you - wasn't intended at all.

I hate to say it, only because I need one, They will eventually see the $400+ mark

First off I'd like to say I like the knife very much and think spyderco is moving in a nice direction with their steels.

Once the M4 millie comes out in full production I don't expect it to have much less or more than a catalog m.s.r.p. of $350, with dealers offering it for around $250, and hopefully less. ;)
Because if your looking at a knife that's around $300, you might as well get something a bit nicer for $400...if you know what I mean. That will NEVER drop in value. I could see a semi-custom production, 100% Ti millie m4 or s90v up around $300.
If Spydie is smart they'll keep the priceing reasonable enough for the dealers to make a profit, and us (the buyers) to have a great knife at a fair value.

I'll just play a wait and see what happens. Lots of cool new knifes are being introduced from many knife manufacturers.

So, as far as secondary market. It is what it is. Not to repeat previous posters.

They will only be what someone else(impatient people) are willing to pay.

Do you have an Umnumzaan by chance? If so, I'm just wondering how you would compare the two personally. I have an M4 Spydie coming, but like you, I have more than I need and am debating what I might or might not sell.

Do you know something we should know??? ;)

My thought as well. I'd be a little disappointed to see this limited/exclusive run go into regular production. Even though at the time it was considered a "sprint run" I bought my orange Millie because of the color. From a collector standpoint it would have been nice if it had stayed a "sprint run" but as I understand it a "sprint run" can be made more than once so it really wasn't a big deal.

This one however was marketed as an exclusive, limited run. That fact in addition to the choice of M4 steel and and the 1/2 Ti, 1/2 G-10 construction is what drew me to it. Not to sound selfish but I hope 500 is that are made.

I spend more time than I should reading posts in places like BF, SF, USN, JD, etc. :D I haven't heard anything about even another M4 C36 sprint, much less full production, but I could easily have missed something - hence the question. However, I think I would be surprised to see this go full production. You never know, however...

I had an Umnu for a while. Other than both being frame locks with ~4" blades, they're quite different. Personally (and it is a personal thing, so YMMV) I didn't like the ergos on the Umnu, and I really like the ergos on the Military. If it is one or the other, you might also consider that if you change your mind down the road, it will be harder to replace the C36GTIP than the Umnu. Also, FWIW, the Umnu is rumored to be getting a transition to S35VN at some point, though I don't think there are any specific dates for that. That will probably put a little dent in the resale prices of S30V Umnus, since everyone seems to love to hate  S30V.
